Summary
Responsible for coordinating, maintaining, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Water Metering Department. This position ensures the accuracy, integrity, and availability of water meter data, meter reading systems, and associated reporting used for billing, customer service, and operational decision-making.
Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES
  • Monitor, maintain, and trouble shoot metering systems including, but not limited to, Meter Data Management System (MDMS), Customer Information System (CIS), Advance Meter Infrastructure (AMI), Metering/Service Mobile Work Order Management System (MWMS).
  • Coordinate the Water Metering Division workflows including, but not limited to, maintain accurate meter information, reading verifications, route management and meter data analytics in all systems of record, perform delegated tasks and project work, document findings and/or information, and prepare reports by factual and/or statistical data gathering, and present, as appropriate.
  • Function as liaison with internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to, validate released log from Building Inspections, duplicate tickets from Service Trucks MWMS to Water Metering MWMS and provide and obtain technical information from field staff, assist in troubleshooting, dispatch appropriate staff, as needed.
  • Assist with validating all AMI data; process all AMI water meter daily readings and/or usage for billing; and transfer the information to the utility billing system.
  • Provide customer support related to meter data, usage inquiries, and account investigations.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications and department software to track, analyze, and present data.
  • Support audits, data reviews, and process improvements related to water metering operations.
  • Manage meter inventory records and ancillary meter information to ensure compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Support meter change-outs, new service installations, and service orders by validating meter data, configurations, and account setup.
  • Learn and use Water utility rates and City of Denton permitting, inspection and billing processes to verify data and follow identified processes.
  • Assist with evaluation of department policies and procedures; provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee special projects, as directed.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field; and,
  • One (1) year experience in electric and water utilities billing, reading meters, or related field;
OR
  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must have and maintain a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law).
  • Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, employment history verification, and social security number verification.
  • Must pass a physical examination.

  • Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition; perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, as appropriate and/or notify leadership immediately of needed repairs.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): No.
  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; use of hand and power tools; wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
  • Lifting: Lifting no more than 50 pounds and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Environment: Works in an office setting; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
  • Travel: Travel to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work overtime, as needed.
