Job description

About Us
Index Analytics, LLC, is a rapidly growing, Baltimore-based small business providing health-related consulting services to the federal government. At the center of our company culture is a commitment to instilling a dynamic and employee-friendly place to work. We place a priority on promoting a supportive and collegial team environment and enhancing staff experience through career development and educational opportunities.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer (DevSecOps Focus) to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable cloud-based applications that support mission-critical federal healthcare programs. This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer with strong expertise across front-end, back-end, API, and database development, as well as experience applying DevSecOps principles within modern AWS environments.
Working closely with product owners, architects, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders, the Senior Full Stack Engineer will translate business and technical requirements into high-quality, user-focused solutions. The engineer will design and implement application features, develop and integrate RESTful APIs, optimize data access and application performance, and ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and secure.
This role contributes across the full software development lifecycle, including solution design, development, testing, deployment, operations, and production support. In addition to application development responsibilities, the engineer will support AWS deployments, CI/CD pipeline automation, infrastructure-as-code initiatives, application monitoring, vulnerability remediation, and operational troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain full stack web applications across the front end, back end, and database layers.
  • Contribute independently across the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Develop and consume RESTful APIs to enable integration between applications and enterprise systems.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to deploy, support, and enhance applications in AWS.
  • Implement application features that read/write data to relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/Aurora) and integrate with AWS services (e.g., S3, Secrets Manager, SSM) using established architectural patterns.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot application and integration issues in development and production environments; document root cause and remediation steps.
  • Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates for infrastructure, application, and database changes that are promoted through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Follow CMS security, privacy, and DevSecOps requirements by implementing secure coding practices and completing required documentation and reviews.
  • Own maintenance and improvement of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins) by updating build steps, reviewing logs, and resolving failed deployments.
  • Lead triage of operational issues using standard monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Splunk) and drive issues through resolution in collaboration with the broader team.
  • Own the remediation of security vulnerabilities by applying patches and updates to application dependencies and supporting infrastructure in a timely manner.

  • US citizen or Authorized to Work and lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years. Must be able to obtain a U.S. Federal government client badge and pass a government Public Trust.
  • Requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or a Master's degree with at least eight (8) years of experience. Four (4) years of specialized experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong experience building full stack applications using modern development frameworks, relational databases, and RESTful APIs.
  • Strong experience with SQL and coding languages (e.g., Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, etc.)
  • Experience supporting cloud-native applications, including deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting. AWS is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, including secure development, access controls, and auditability is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with analytics, application, and platform teams in an Agile environment.
  • Prior experience with Center for Medicare Medicaid Services or other government agencies is a plus.
  • This position requires occasional mandatory travel to the office for onsite work, which may range from one day to several consecutive days, based on operational needs.
