About the Role:


We're seeking an experienced,  proactive, organized Seasonal Garden Centre Senior Lead Merchandiser to lead day-to-day store operations during our peak season. This role is ideal for someone who excels at team leadership, maintains high standards, and consistently follows company procedures to deliver an exceptional customer experience.


Key Responsibilities:


Operational Excellence


  • Oversee daily activities to ensure the Garden Centre is clean, organized, and visually appealing, following company merchandising guidelines.

  • Support inventory processes: receiving, stocking, rotating, and merchandising live goods and related products.


Team Leadership & Development


  • Lead, motivate, and supervise a seasonal team, ensuring all staff follow company policies and procedures.

  • Build daily staffing plans, provide hands-on training, and manage schedules and task assignments.

  • Conduct ongoing performance check-ins, offering feedback, additional training and coaching to maintain high standards.


Customer Experience


  • Deliver outstanding service by assisting shoppers, answering questions, and providing knowledgeable advice on plant selection and care.

  • Foster a welcoming, informative, and engaging environment for customers and staff alike.



Sales & Merchandising


  • Execute planograms for promotions and featured items, ensuring visual standards are met and sales opportunities are maximized.

  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the team to achieve store budget goals.

  • Ensure Garden Centre safety and cleanliness meet required standards.


Quality Assurance


  • Ensure plant health and quality through regular inspections and proactive care.

  • Manage the process for tracking, reporting, and removing compromised products.


Administrative Support


  • Stay current with store procedures and complete assigned administrative tasks accurately and on time.

  • Follow up on shortfalls in staffing, training or store best practices that require corrections on a daily basis.


Qualifications:


  • Previous retail merchandising experience required; Garden Centre experience strongly preferred

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in team leadership or management

  • Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment (lifting up to 50 lbs., frequent bending and movement)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable with technology, apps, and online reporting tools

  • Genuine passion for gardening and outdoor living
