Sedgman Novopro recherche actuellement un ingenieur mecanique senior pour son bureau de Montreal, au Quebec. Le candidat ideal aura une experience en conception mecanique dans le cadre de projets miniers/industriels lourds, depuis la conception et les etudes jusqu'a la realisation du projet ; il aura des connaissances et une experience solides, en particulier dans le domaine des equipements de traitement mecanique, de la tolerie et de la tuyauterie.

Ce poste implique diverses taches, allant de la conception technique a la selection des equipements, en passant par l'assistance sur site et le controle qualite. 

Vous participerez a toutes les phases du projet, de la preparation des propositions a la mise en service, en passant par les etudes, la conception technique detaillee et la construction. Le candidat ideal aura une experience prealable sur site et sera capable de s'assurer que les fonctions d'ingenierie sur site sont remplies de maniere efficace et conforme sur le plan technique afin de soutenir les activites de construction. Sur site, vous veillerez a ce que le projet soit construit en toute securite, qu'il reponde aux exigences de conception, qu'il soit construit dans les delais et dans les limites du budget.

Sedgman is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their Montreal, Qc office. 

The ideal candidate will have mechanical design experience working on mining/heavy industrial type projects, from conceptual design and studies through to project completion; they will have strong knowledge and experience specifically in mechanical process equipment, platework and piping. 

This individual will be responsible for a variety of tasks, ranging from engineering design, equipment selection, and on-site support and quality control. 

They will participate in all project phases, from proposal preparation, studies, detailed engineering design, construction, and commissioning. The ideal incumbent will have prior site experience and will be able to ensure that on-site engineering functions are efficiently completed and technically compliant to support construction activities. On site, they will ensure the project is constructed safely, meets design requirements, constructed on time and within budget.

En quoi consiste ce role? Responsabilites Principales :

  • Fournir des directives et des conseils techniques au personnel du projet afin de garantir que les buts et objectifs soient atteints de maniere efficace et economique.

  • Controler la conformite avec la conception, identifier les non-conformites potentielles ou reelles et les documenter en vue de leur resolution.

  • Gerer les materiaux et les consommables, veiller a ce que le personnel de construction beneficie du soutien necessaire pour atteindre les objectifs du projet.

  • Assurer les fonctions d'ingenierie sur site, comprenant l'evaluation des risques, les observations relatives a la qualite, les demandes d'informations et de renseignements techniques, et la planification de la construction avec le personnel et les sous-traitants concernes.

  • Travailler sur l'amelioration des processus miniers et industriels, l'amenagement des usines, la selection et l'integration des equipements de traitement, le pompage et la tuyauterie des fluides et des boues, la manutention des materiaux, etc. 

  • Participer a toutes les phases du projet, y compris la definition du perimetre, les propositions, la faisabilite, la conception detaillee, le soutien a la construction, la mise en service, l'ingenierie de terrain et le developpement commercial.

  • Preparer et reviser les schemas de procede (PFD), les schemas de tuyauterie et d'instrumentation (P&ID).

  • Collaborer avec des equipes multidisciplinaires et encadrer les ingenieurs juniors et le personnel technique afin de developper des solutions basees sur des calculs et des simulations techniques.

  • Soutenir les activites d'approvisionnement, de construction et de chantier, y compris le developpement de packages, la coordination des fournisseurs et l'examen des offres.

  • Etablir et entretenir de solides relations avec les clients et contribuer aux efforts de developpement commercial.

  • Encourager une culture de securite solide et respecter les politiques et procedures de l'entreprise.

  • Mener des activites conformes aux procedures internes, a la legislation et aux normes de l'industrie.

  • Poursuivre le developpement professionnel continu et maintenir un haut niveau de discipline, de connaissances et de vigilance.

  • Travaillez toujours en respectant les consignes de securite.

Que recherchons-nous?  Qualifications requises :

  • Baccalaureat en genie mecanique.

  • Experience professionnelle pertinente de 15 a 20 ans. 

  • Membre de l'OIQ (ingenieur professionnel au Quebec). 

  • Facilite averee a diriger de petites equipes de projet dans le domaine de la conception mecanique.

  • Experience prealable dans une mine ou sur un chantier de construction requise.

  • Maitrise de la suite MS Office, MS Project ou Primavera P6 fortement souhaitee.

  • Une experience en administration de contrats est un atout.

  • Capacite a gerer de maniere sure et efficace le rythme de travail, les priorites et les activites. 

  • Une experience pertinente en genie mecanique, de preference dans le secteur minier ou dans des secteurs connexes.

  • Connaissance des logiciels d'analyse technique.

  • Experience dans l'amenagement d'installations industrielles, les systemes de pompage et de tuyauterie, les convoyeurs, le chauffage, la ventilation et la climatisation, et les equipements de manutention.

  • Doit etre admissible a travailler au Canada sans parrainage.

  • Exigences linguistiques : excellente maitrise du francais parle et ecrit. Une bonne maitrise de l'anglais parle est requise en raison des contacts quotidiens avec des clients, des fournisseurs, des partenaires et des collegues bases hors du Quebec.

What does this role involve? Main Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical direction and guidance to project staff to ensure goals and objectives are effectively and economically achieved.

  • Monitor compliance with design, identify potential or actual non-conformances and document for resolution.

  • Materials & consumables management, ensure construction personnel are supported to achieve project objectives.

  • Complete on-site engineering functions, including risk assessment, Quality observations, RFI's & technical queries, construction planning with associated staff and subcontractors.

  • Work on mining and industrial process improvements, plant layouts, process equipment selections and integration, fluid and slurry pumping and piping, and material handling, etc. 

  • Participate in all project phases including scoping, proposals, feasibility, detailed design, construction support, commissioning, field engineering, and business development.

  • Prepare and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).

  • Collaborate with multidiscipline teams and mentor junior engineers and technical staff to develop solutions based on engineering calculations and simulations.

  • Support procurement, construction, and site activities including package development, vendor coordination and bid reviews.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.

  • Promote a strong safety culture and adhere to company policies and procedures.

  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.

  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

  • Work in a safe manner at all times.

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

  • Have 15 to 20 years of relevant work experience, 

  • Be registered with OIQ (P. Engineer in Quebec);

  • Demonstrated ability to lead small project teams in mechanical design.

  • Previous experience working on a mine / construction site is required.

  • Skills in MS Office suite, MS Project or Primavera P6 is highly desired

  • Contract Administration exposure is an asset

  • Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities 

  • relevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably in mining, or related sectors.

  • Familiarity with engineering analysis software.

  • Experience with industrial plant layout, pumping and piping systems, conveyors, HVAC, and material handling equipment.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship

  • Language requirements: The candidate must be bilingual, fluent in French and able to hold intermediate-level conversations in English with non-French speaking colleagues and clients as part of day-to-day interactions.
