Job Title: Batch Mixer / Filler and Material HandlerJob Description

This hybrid role combines batch mixing, filling, and material handling to produce high-quality adhesives, sealants, and coatings. You will follow detailed recipes to blend products, operate and set up production equipment, and handle raw materials and finished goods. The position is physically active, hands-on, and offers structured training with an experienced lead operator.

Responsibilities
  • Blend batches of adhesives, sealants, and coatings by following recipe guides and cookbooks with close attention to detail.
  • Weigh and measure raw ingredients accurately to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Handle and work with dry chemical materials, ensuring safe and proper use at all times.
  • Manually lift, carry, and dump 40–60 pound bags of materials into tankers and machinery on a regular basis.
  • Set up machinery, hoses, tankers, and related production equipment for batch runs and filling operations.
  • Fill pails, buckets, and bottles according to production requirements, ensuring correct quantities and labeling.
  • Stage, wrap, and palletize finished orders, then verify order accuracy before moving them to the next area.
  • Gather and stage raw materials from various rooms and storage areas in preparation for production runs.
  • Use vacuums and other equipment to stage and move products and raw materials safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine inspections on batches, equipment, and finished products to maintain quality standards.
  • Assist with basic maintenance and cleaning of machinery, tools, and production areas to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Sweep workstations and keep machinery and surrounding areas clean, organized, and free of debris.
  • Work closely with a lead or senior operator to receive training, learn procedures, and develop skills in mixing, filling, and staging.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift to move materials, pallets, and finished goods as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of a respirator and steel-toe footwear, while working around machinery and chemicals.
  • Collaborate with team members in various departments, including production and warehouse, to maintain efficient product flow through the facility.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of experience in mixing, blending, filling, or similar batch production work.
  • Hands-on experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic manufacturing environments.
  • Proven background in packaging, bottling, and production line work.
  • Demonstrated ability to weigh, mix, and handle raw materials accurately and safely.
  • Comfort with manual loading, repetitive physical labor, and heavy lifting of 40–60 pound bags.
  • Experience operating a sit-down forklift in a production or warehouse setting.
  • Ability to work safely with dry chemicals while using appropriate personal protective equipment, including a respirator.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Reliability and willingness to work a 1st shift schedule with occasional overtime.

Work Environment

The position is on 1st shift, typically 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a few hours of overtime expected and occasional, non-mandatory Saturday work. The facility emphasizes safety, requiring steel-toe footwear and the use of a respirator where appropriate, and maintains a clean, orderly production floor focused on safe, efficient operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alsip, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
