Job description

Role Overview

Step into a senior-level hands-on role where your precision craftsmanship and programming expertise keep a fast-paced production line running at peak performance. As a Tool & Die Maker with strong CNC and Wire EDM skills, you’ll maintain, repair, and enhance progressive dies and tooling while upholding a rigorous safety culture.

A day in the life

You kick off with a safety huddle, review work orders and prints, and choose the best approach—grinding, milling, turning, EDM, or a combination—to restore a die to spec. Mid-morning, you troubleshoot a stamping issue, diagnose root cause, and implement corrective actions. After lunch, you program a Wire EDM to machine a new insert, verify close tolerances with micrometers and calipers, document your work, and mentor a teammate on setup best practices. You close the shift auditing PPE, LOTO, Hazard Communication, and Confined Space compliance.

What you’ll do
  • Champion a safety-first mindset across the shop.
  • Set up and operate toolroom equipment: grinders, mills, drill presses, lathes, and more.
  • Execute die maintenance and repair; quickly troubleshoot production tooling.
  • Program and run CNC machines and Wire EDM to produce/modify components.
  • Machine and revise die components and inserts to improve reliability and throughput.
  • Identify and resolve tooling, mold, and equipment issues with robust corrective actions.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specs to deliver precise results.
  • Hold tight tolerances; perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Support engineering trials, testing, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Accurately record tooling repairs and equipment issues for traceability.
  • Coach and assist fellow Tool & Die team members.
  • Adhere to all company, state, and federal safety rules including PPE, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication, and Confined Space procedures.
  • Pitch in with additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of Tool & Die experience or equivalent technical training/experience.
  • Hands-on CNC programming and Wire EDM expertise (required).
  • Proficient with grinders, lathes, milling, drilling, tapping, and boring.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving in manufacturing.
  • Skilled in repairing/modifying dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Advanced blueprint reading; confident working to close tolerances.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds/speeds, and coolants.
  • Understanding of press operations and related manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 procedures (preferred).
  • Sit-down forklift experience (preferred).
  • Strong shop math: fractions, decimals, geometry, metric conversions, trigonometry.
  • Clear English communication skills, verbal and written.
Physical requirements
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the shift.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Work safely in manufacturing and warehouse environments.
Benefits

Medical, dental, vision, PTO, LTD, STD, 401k.

Proficiencies we value
  • GD&T
  • Metal Stamping & Forming (Progressive Die)
  • CNC Machine Setup & Changeover
  • Tool/Die/Mold Repair Skills
  • Tool/Die/Mold Setup Experience
  • Blueprint Reading

  • Manual Vertical Mill
