Job description

Process Manufacturing Engineer โ€“ Pratt & Whitney

Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in designing, manufacturing, and servicing aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems. We are seeking a Process Manufacturing Engineer to drive continuous improvement and quality in our Compression Systems Manufacturing Center in Middletown, Connecticut.

What you will do
  • Provide direct troubleshooting support to the manufacturing shop floor and drive improvement across selected manufacturing processes (e.g., conventional machining and special manufacturing).
  • Identify and implement process optimization and control methods to eliminate quality turn backs/escapes and reduce overall product costs.
  • Collaborate with product designers, tool designers, quality assurance, systems designers, and other stakeholders to improve firstโ€‘pass yield.
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions on nonโ€‘conforming products, using statistical analysis tools and other methods.
  • Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization using MRL tools such as Process Control Plans and PFMEA.
  • Document problem statements, observations, conclusions, calculations, and recommendations with discipline and followโ€‘through.
  • Support the project pipeline process: select, prioritize, and scope projects aligned with business objectives and CORE initiatives.
  • Schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews, ensuring validation and progress through effective scorecards and metrics.
  • Lead projects that improve manufacturing process capability and quality performance through the assigned processes.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering with 5+ years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, quality, shop floor, or similar environment; or a Masterโ€™s degree with 3+ years of experience in a similar environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities in a constantly fluctuating work environment.
  • Experience reading and interpreting complex blueprints.
  • Experience in a manufacturing shop environment.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Six Sigma project leadership, management, or coaching experience.
  • Experience with project management tools such as MS Project.
  • Previous experience with PW software tools like Solumina and SAP.
  • Experience using UG/NX and Team Center software suites.
  • Experience with Minitab and other statistical software for analysis.
  • Experience working on rotating gas turbine parts.
  • Experience in conventional manufacturing processes.
