Position Overview
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will serve as one of the technical leads on the production floor at our Sanatoga Station Road facility. You will own the manufacturing process lifecycle from concept through production, including quoting/fixturing concept, focusing on design for manufacturability (DFM), tooling, and continuous improvement for state-of-the-art tube bending, laser cutting, robotic welding, and CNC machining operations.
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization: Design, implement, and document manufacturing processes for custom steel fabrication (tube bending, laser cutting, and CNC machining) to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
Tooling & Fixturing: Utilize CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks) to design and fabricate production tooling, jigs, and fixtures that ensure precision and part consistency.
Project Management: Lead capital equipment procurement, plant layout configurations, and production line setups.
Technical Support: Provide hands-on troubleshooting on the manufacturing floor, conducting root-cause failure analyses and resolving quality deviations.
Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Evaluate customer product designs and confer with manufacturing personnel to ensure parts can be produced efficiently and within cost constraints.
Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean, 5S, and Six Sigma initiatives (e.g., SPC, DOE, PFMEA) to improve workflow and reduce total cost without sacrificing quality.
Documentation & Compliance: Manage engineering change notices (ECN), routings, and bills of materials (BOMs) within the ERP system while strictly maintaining ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Minimum ten years of progressively responsible experience in a heavy or precision manufacturing environment, preferably with expertise in custom metal fabrication.
Software Skills: High proficiency with CAD/CAM systems (SolidWorks preferred) and ERP software.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of CNC programming, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and metal fabrication methods.
Soft Skills: Ability to mentor less experienced engineers, interface directly with suppliers and customers, and work in a hands-on, fast-paced production environment.
