Northrop Grumman Aeronautics System Sector is seeking a Manager Operations Project Management 2 to support our Industrial Engineering & Operations Management (IEOM) organization. The leader will join our team of qualified, diverse, individuals on-site in Palmdale, California.
The Manager of Project Management 2 will have the responsibility of working side by side with a team of individuals performing Industrial engineering and operations management tasks. Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
Responsibilities:
  • This leadership role will be responsible for the products and services related to overseeing and managing the operational aspects of ongoing projects and over design release areas.
  • Our Team: reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. The team is well-versed with providing the following pillars:
    • Report status of work to respective customers.
    • Analyze multiple data sources, data gathering in detail to identify trends and patterns
    • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement solutions and monitor outcomes
    • Ordering of materials and goods to ensure the on-time delivery of our product.
    • Provide guidance and statement of work to shop floor technicians.
    • Maintain and develop cost and schedule analysis charts to help support managerial direction.
    • Working closely with functional/Program manager to provide direction to maintain production support.
    • Continuous improvement Initiatives
  • Provide technical and leadership support to the Operations Project Management (OPM) team.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team of project managers by assigning meaningful tasks, providing frequent feedback, and rewarding positive performance. Build trust within the organization and align team towards a clear set of impactful goals.
  • Administer to employees, including performance reviews, merit increases, promotions, skills inventory and personal resources.
  • Drive strategic initiatives and tactical actions that deliver results to improve program cost and schedule performance. Ensure program milestones and performance goals are achieved.
  • Deliver on short-term, high visibility program requests, while creating a vision and executing a long-term strategy to influence change within and outside the organization.
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of manufacturing schedules and plans to ensure adequate labor, facilities, equipment, tooling, and materials are available on time to ensure customer requirements are met.

These shifts will be supporting our 4/10 shifts: Monday through Thursday 6am - 4:30pm, and occasional support on Fridays and weekends as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 years' of relevant experience in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, and/or Project Management related experience OR a Master's Degree with 3 years' of relevant experience in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, and/or Project Management related experience
  • 2 years of proven experience leading teams and/or projects.
  • Experience Microsoft Office Tools (PowerPoint, Excel, etc).
  • Ability to Travel 25% domestically to support business need.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and ability to obtain Special Program access within a reasonable amount of time as required by the business.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM field.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience
  • 2 years of shop floor operations support experience.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and experience utilizing them professionally.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • In scope Program Access

Primary Level Salary Range: $133,100.00 - $199,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
