Contract Position: 12 months + potential extension

Location: Dallas, TX (Local candidates only - Hybrid schedule)


We are seeking an experienced Manager, Data Management to lead a cross-functional team responsible for enterprise data architecture, governance, and modernization initiatives. This role will oversee Operational Data Stores (ODS), Historical Data Stores, and the evolution to modern Data Lake/Lakehouse platforms while ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable data solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership capabilities with expertise in data management, governance, MDM, and enterprise data transformation.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data management, data architecture, data governance, or related disciplines
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams including Data Architects, Data Analysts, Business Analysts, Logical DBAs, Project Managers, and MDM professionals
  • Strong experience managing enterprise database platforms supporting operational and analytical environments
  • Proven experience implementing Master Data Management (MDM) programs and enterprise data governance initiatives
  • Knowledge of data management, data integration, and MDM tools; experience with Ab Initio is a plus
  • Experience building high-performing teams, managing capacity planning, workload balancing, and resource allocation
  • Experience delivering enterprise data modernization, migration, and cloud transformation initiatives
  • Strong understanding of data quality, metadata management, data lineage, retention policies, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, or similar technologies
  • Familiarity with Data Lake/Lakehouse architectures, including Medallion Architecture concepts
  • Experience with data virtualization platforms such as Denodo is preferred
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes, data ingestion, streaming technologies (Kafka, Spark Streaming), and distributed data architectures
  • Experience working within DevOps, DataOps, or agile delivery environments
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a cross-functional data team while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Manage enterprise data management functions supporting ODS, Historical Data Stores, and Data Lake initiatives
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies, architecture standards, metadata practices, data lineage, and compliance requirements
  • Drive improvements in data quality, availability, and MDM capabilities across enterprise platforms
  • Support Data Architects by removing blockers, establishing standards, and promoting consistent architecture practices
  • Partner with technology, enterprise architecture, engineering, and business leaders to align data strategy with organizational priorities
  • Support implementation of modern Data Lake/Lakehouse platforms and migration from legacy environments while maintaining governance and architecture continuity
  • Manage delivery timelines, resources, risks, and stakeholder communications across concurrent data initiatives
