Job description

Shift: Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm. overtime as needed
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Helper assists the Maintenance Department in performing routine building and equipment maintenance, repair tasks, and general facility upkeep. This position supports preventive maintenance programs and helps ensure a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist the maintenance lead with repairs and preventive maintenance on building systems, machinery, and equipment.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks, including cleaning work areas, replacing light bulbs, changing filters, and lubricating machinery.
  • Support safe operations by following all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and maintenance procedures.
  • Help inspect equipment and report potential safety hazards or mechanical issues to the supervisor.
  • Assist with minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work under supervision.
  • Maintain tools, parts, and maintenance supplies in good condition and organize storage.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests or emergencies as directed.
  • Help with general facility upkeep, including groundskeeping, pest control, and cleaning of mechanical rooms.
  • Assist in the setup or teardown of equipment and furniture for facility projects or events.
  • Support contractors and service providers by preparing work areas and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
  • Complete assigned checklists, record work performed, and communicate job status to the supervisor.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience or training in maintenance, construction, or a related trade preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, and the ability to learn building and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform manual labor in various environments.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Forklift operation experience or willingness to be trained is a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, dust, and occasional outdoor conditions.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching are required.
  • You must use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company policy.
