Job Description

Acts as a technical project team member, providing expertise on the design needs of the technical area.

Creates conceptual and detailed design documents

Identifies components required for technical development within the impacted systems (i.e. JCL, schedule, capacity, job stream, space requirements, operational dependencies, etc.)

Responsible and accountable for developing designs aligned with target architectures and frameworks.

Consults with the functional business areas to refine business requirements and functional design; assists in relating requirements and design to a technical solution

Develop scenarios, test cases and sequences of testing events specifically addressing the business requirements.

Determine programs, jobs and systems to execute for defined system updates.

 Creates technical development  plans, scenarios, test cases, and test data


Responsible and accountable for the execution of the approved development plans.

Required to document all test results within the agreed upon time-frames outlined by the project work plan.

Provide pro-active consultation on the development plans and schedules to optimize the overall development effort.


Qualifications

5 +years experience performing and executing development and maintenance to a formal methodology.

5+ years experience and strong knowledge of COBOL, IMS, DB2, MQ Series, and other mainframe tools.

 5+ years in the development and maintenance of business applications utilizing the full SDLC  

  • experienced in developing the conceptual architecture / design solution for projects
  • Proven ability in identifying and documenting architecturally significant aspects/views of the systems
  • Able to deliver and collect best design practices across projects (e.g. decoupling and reuse)
  • Able to design application frameworks with security components to ensure data from unauthorized use and disclosure
  • Familiarity with industry best design approaches
  • Understands coding, design, and security standards
