Requisition Summary

This position is responsible for the development, enhancement, and support of PACCAR's critical Mainframe applications that enable key Materials and Finance business processes. Leveraging technologies such as COBOL, IMS, DB2, CICS, and JCL, the role focuses on delivering reliable, high-quality solutions, maintaining existing systems, resolving production issues, and implementing new capabilities that support PACCAR's manufacturing, supply chain, and financial operations across North America

About the Team

As a Senior Software Developer, you will join PACCAR’s talented Mainframe team, supporting the mission-critical Materials and Finance systems that power the manufacturing, supply chain, and financial operations behind the production of medium and heavy-duty trucks across North America. You will collaborate with business and technology teams to design, develop, and enhance innovative solutions, leverage modern AI-enabled tools to improve productivity and software delivery, and help ensure the reliability and performance of applications that are essential to PACCAR’s continued success.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Partner with business customers and stakeholders to understand requirements and recommend effective technical solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and support mainframe applications and system enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while ensuring system reliability and performance.
  • Provide application and system administration support for critical business systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver business value.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support production deployments and participate in an on-call rotation, including occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Utilize AI-enabled tools to improve development efficiency, quality, and operational support processes.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including application development, scripting, workflow design, and data mapping.
  • 5+ years of mainframe experience with COBOL, IMS DB, DB2, CICS and JCL
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, databases, and spreadsheets.
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field desired.
