Regardless of the position one holds, each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing, vibrant, and inclusive culture.
BETA Technologies is seeking a Lead Verification & Validation Engineer to define and own the verification strategy for our certifying electric aircraft's high-voltage electric power systems.
This is a senior technical leadership role focused on architecting the end-to-end verification approach across the HV domain. You'll work across systems engineering, test, and certification teams to establish scalable verification frameworks, ensure traceability, and enable high-quality execution aligned with certification objectives.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
  • Define and own the end-to-end verification strategy for high-voltage systems from component through aircraft level
  • Develop domain-level verification plans, methodologies, and success criteria aligned with certification requirements
  • Establish standardized tools, workflows, and artifacts to ensure consistency, traceability, and audit readiness
  • Define and maintain connections between requirements, verification activities, evidence, and compliance findings
  • Architect verification approaches across battery systems, power electronics, HV distribution, safety interlocks, and energy management
  • Lead verification campaigns covering performance, thermal behavior, protection systems, and off-nominal or faulted conditions
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to the HV V&V team, ensuring high-quality execution as the organization scales
  • Mentor engineers, conduct rigorous technical reviews, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in verification, validation, systems, or test engineering in aerospace or another safety-critical industry
  • Proven experience defining verification strategies for complex systems
  • Deep expertise in high-voltage or electrified power systems (batteries, power electronics, HV safety, distribution)
  • Strong understanding of requirements-based verification and traceability
  • Experience with requirements and PLM tools such as Polarion, DOORS, Jira, or Windchill
  • Strong technical communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to provide structure and direction in a fast-paced environment

Above and Beyond Qualifications:
  • Experience with certification frameworks such as ARP4754A, ARP4761, and FAA/EASA programs
  • Familiarity with high-voltage and battery standards (SAE, UL, IEC, DO-311, ASTM)
  • Experience with DO-178C, DO-254, or DO-160G
  • Background in flight test, system integration, or model-based verification (MBSE, MATLAB/Simulink, Python)
