We are seeking a Senior OpenShift Systems Administrator / DevOps Engineer to support the modernization and sustainment of mission-critical systems for the Air Force at Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC). The selected candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, automation, and optimization of Red Hat OpenShift environments supporting enterprise applications, data platforms, AI/ML solutions, and cloud-native services. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, containerized workloads, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD automation, and enterprise Linux administration. This role will work closely with software developers, cybersecurity personnel, cloud engineers, and system administrators to deploy and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available environments.
DoD Interim or Active Secret clearance or higher required Responsibilities:
โ€ข Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Red Hat OpenShift clusters in development, test, and production environments.
โ€ข Deploy, manage, and optimize containerized applications using Kubernetes and OpenShift technologies.
โ€ข Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting automated build, testing, security scanning, and deployment activities.
โ€ข Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
โ€ข Support deployment and operation of cloud-native applications and microservices architectures.
โ€ข Manage Linux-based infrastructure including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers and virtualized environments.
โ€ข Implement and maintain container security best practices, image scanning, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.
โ€ข Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to support RMF controls, STIG compliance, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening efforts.
โ€ข Support monitoring, logging, and observability platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack, or similar technologies.
โ€ข Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, networking, storage, and container orchestration issues.
โ€ข Support database deployments and integrations within containerized environments.
โ€ข Develop automation scripts and tooling using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages.
โ€ข Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and deployment runbooks.
โ€ข Participate in system upgrades, patching activities, disaster recovery planning, and incident response efforts. Required Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
โ€ข 4+ years of experience administering enterprise Linux environments.
โ€ข 3+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes and/or Red Hat OpenShift.
โ€ข Experience deploying and managing containerized workloads in production environments.
โ€ข Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools).
โ€ข Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
โ€ข Strong knowledge of Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
โ€ข Experience with Git-based source control and DevOps workflows.
โ€ข Experience supporting cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.
โ€ข Active Secret Security Clearance.
โ€ข Security+ certification or ability to obtain within 90 days. Preferred Qualifications
