Job description

Do you want to be part of a business that genuinely values entrepreneurialism, innovation and individual accountability? We focus on our customers and are proud of the difference our technology makes. We partner with some of the biggest manufacturing companies in the world and our technical innovations are used to enhance well-known brands across multiple industries.

Role Summary

The Vice President of Technology is a senior executive leader, reporting to the President of Concurrent Real-Time and serving as a key member of the leadership team. This role sets the technical vision, shapes investment priorities, and guides the product roadmap; building a high performing engineering organization that turns innovation into fielded capability for mission critical customers. Aerospace & Defense is entering a new era of software defined capability, rapid technology cycles, and compressed timelines from concept to deployment. Programs increasingly demand determinism, cyber resilience, and measurable mission impact; while new entrants and emerging architectures raise the bar for speed, integration, and operational relevance. The Haed of Technology will align strategy, teams, and partners to operate as a high velocity bridge between concept and capability; accelerating innovation into our base platforms, de risking adoption, and delivering differentiated embedded solutions customers can deploy with confidence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technology & Architecture Leadership Define and evolve the technology strategy and roadmap across RTOS, embedded software, HIL, and computing platforms; prioritizing the work that creates clear customer value and durable competitive advantage.
  • Provide architectural leadership to ensure solutions meet determinism, performance, safety, security, and long term maintainability requirements.
  • Champion engineering excellence and disciplined execution, balancing innovation with pragmatism in mission-critical environments.
  • Engineering Leadership & Talent Development Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers and technical leaders; build leadership depth and succession. Lead and scale agile teams (Scrum/Kanban), setting clear objectives and enabling predictable delivery. Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning; remove obstacles so teams can do their best work.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration Partner with Product Management, Sales/BD, Operations, and Quality to align technology investment to customer needs, program realities, and business strategy—guiding tradeoffs with clarity and data. Establish a process driven operating cadence across the portfolio; use metrics and disciplined execution practices to improve predictability, quality, and time to impact. Support key pursuits and programs with technical credibility, especially in aerospace and defense customer engagements.
  • Customer & External Engagement Serve as a senior technical representative with key customers; translate complex technical tradeoffs into clear decisions for both technical and executive audiences. Own engagement with key technology partners (SBC manufacturers, chassis vendors, motherboard manufacturers, specialized I/O board providers, and PCIe ecosystem partners) to align technical requirements, joint roadmaps, integration readiness, and go to market opportunities. Lead the embedded and deployed product roadmap with OEMs and embedded solution providers; enable partners to sell and deploy RedHawk Linux as part of integrated embedded solutions. Represent Concurrent Real-Time’s technical vision with credibility and confidence.
  • Executive & Strategic Leadership Serve on the Concurrent Real-Time senior leadership team and report directly to the President. Translate long-term business objectives into clear technology and engineering priorities; influence investment, partnerships, and roadmap decisions to ensure focus on outcomes that matter. Act as a visible, trusted executive leader who represents engineering and technology across the business.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in software, systems, or embedded engineering, including senior leadership roles.
  • Strong background in real-time operating systems (RTOS), embedded software, or mission‑critical computing platforms.
  • Demonstrated success leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams.
  • Experience working in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated environments (safety critical or security critical); able to operate effectively in a growing organization where structure and scale are evolving.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience with embedded or real-time Linux and/or commercial RTOS environments.
  • Experience leading agile development at scale (planning, backlog management, and cross team dependency management).
  • Familiarity with embedded computing platforms (for example: SBCs, CPUs/SoCs, FPGA based systems) and long lifecycle A&D or safety certification considerations.
  • Experience building and managing OEM/ISV/technology partner ecosystems (joint roadmap planning and technical enablement for embedded platforms).
  • Prior experience supporting U.S. aerospace or defense customers.
Leadership Attributes

We Value Servant leader who develops people, builds trust, and creates alignment across stakeholders. Technically credible and respected by engineers, customers, and partners. Pragmatic and mission focused; calm under pressure and effective in ambiguity. Clear, concise communicator with a bias for disciplined execution and continuous improvement.
