Job description

Job Summary:
Senior BIM Coordinator for SPC entails oversight of full coordination process including modeling of specific project scope (plumbing and/or mechanical systems) against other trade contractors utilizing Revit and Navis. Accountable for overall quality of piping inside of model and all documentation required for prefabrication and field install. Can communicate and collaborate effectively with internal team members to ensure quality of model meets SPC standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Acts as key technical and implementation source for BIM for assigned projects and maintains effective relationships with design, project and SPC teams.
  • Provides guidance to project managers on the added cost to meet goals for project BIM implementation.
  • Analyzes design for assigned MEP conversions to create workable models and ensure constructability.
  • Checks for quality and accuracy of models, extracts quantities, clash detection and resolution, analyzes scheduling cost, resolves workforce conflicts and creates documentation and representations.
  • Must be able to translate 2D drawings and specifications into complete 3D building information models at advanced levels.
  • Must have knowledge of BIM related platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navis Works.
  • As well as other Software including Microsoft Word and Excel, BlueBeam, GoTo Meeting, Microsoft Teams Etc.
  • Demonstrates high level of MEP system knowledge, construction techniques and sequences and special awareness of construction methods, processes and building codes affecting their particular scope of work.
  • Must be able to assist the BIM manager with training of BIM Drafter/Spoolers, and Lead coordinators.
  • Must be able to model all of the necessary pieces to hook up Mechanical and Plumbing Equipment.
  • Spooling, Labeling, Dimensioning, Documentation, Printing Spool Books, Printing Drawings, Compliance with Standards, Compliance with Naming Conventions, Placing Hangers, running reports on Hangers, Running Reports on Materials, and Placing of Trimble points.
  • Lead coordination effort for assigned projects.
  • Direct Drafters, Assistant Coordinators, and Pinnacle staff as needed.
  • Attend coordination meetings and be the SPC representative for your assigned project and scope.
  • Complete understanding of job specs, schedule, and construction sequencing.
  • Labeling, dimensioning, and printing of drawings; Placing of Trimble points.
  • Aid in creating, updating and maintaining libraries of equipment and fittings for BIM system.
  • Maintain and file all sketches and drawings by name number location.
  • Provide detailed shop drawings as required of duct and piping for complete project, with time frames provided by project manager, Superintendent, GC and/or department manager.
  • Provide piping assembly drawings for Pipe Fab Shop, Sheet Metal Shop and/or Prefabrication Shops when necessary.
  • Learn all necessary information regarding mechanical installations that will apply to modeled systems.
  • Makes final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
  • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
  • Make any adjustments or changes necessary or desired by the project teams and spooling team to accommodate field and prefabrication request.
  • Draws finished designs from sketches.
  • Uses Revit and Navis to complete coordination of modeled systems with other trades.
  • Attend meetings with PM/FS/LC.
  • Properly files all drawings, BOMs, and cut sheets.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of MEP system knowledge, construction techniques and special awareness.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability of statistical inference, and fundamental of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
