Overview
We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to take technical ownership of backend modernization initiatives involving Java EE / JSP applications, microservices architecture, and enterprise integrations. This role is responsible for architecture guidance, modernization strategy, and technical excellence, while leveraging AI and LLMs to accelerate discovery and migration.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Modernization Leadership
• Own and guide the overall backend architecture for Java EE applications being modernized to microservices.
• Lead monolith refactoring and decomposition into Spring Boot-based services.
• Define and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and best practices.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools aligned with enterprise standards.
Backend Engineering & Integration
• Design, develop, and implement enterprise grade backend services and integrations.
• Lead SOAP to REST API modernization and service rationalization.
• Ensure backend services meet non functional requirements (performance, security, scalability).
• Act as the backend technical point of contact for product, DevOps, security, and integration teams.
AI & LLM Responsibilities
• Use LLM based tools for:
o Legacy code analysis and dependency mapping
o Service boundary identification
o Documentation and interface generation
• Apply prompt engineering techniques and define validation guardrails.
• Ensure AI usage complies with enterprise security, privacy, and governance standards.
Technical Leadership & Mentoring
• Lead design reviews, architecture discussions, and complex problem solving sessions.
• Mentor mid level engineers and provide constructive feedback through code reviews.
• Influence technical roadmaps and modernization priorities.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional Java development experience, including significant Java EE expertise.
• Proven experience designing and maintaining enterprise-scale, production systems.
• Experience with modernizing legacy code and integrating new features into existing systems.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
