Software Engineer II | Bloomfield, Connecticut, United States Software Engineer II - Embedded Systems | Indotronix, Bloomfield, CT
About the Role
Join Indotronix as a Software Engineer II and play a pivotal role in developing next-generation embedded software for commercial elevator products. This is a 7-month contract opportunity based in Bloomfield, CT, offering exposure to both legacy systems and new product innovation. Collaborate with a talented engineering team, gain hands-on experience with industry-leading technologies, and contribute directly to product excellence in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement embedded software features for elevator control systems using C/C++
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to architect and enhance embedded controls and system interfaces
  • Conduct unit and integration testing with hardware simulators in an engineering lab environment
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve system interactions and field issues for elevator devices
  • Document test procedures, results, software requirements, and design specifications
  • Manage software configuration control, versioning, and change management processes
  • Perform regression testing and support software releases for new and existing elevator control products
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards and participate in peer code reviews
  • Engage in both legacy and new product development cycles

Required Skills and Experience
  • BS/BA in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (7+ years), or Master's in Software Engineering (5+ years)
  • Proven expertise in embedded C/C++ development
  • Strong hands-on experience with Embedded Linux or RTOS (VxWorks, ThreadX, Green Hills)
  • Proficiency in inter-process communication and multi-threaded application development
  • Experience with VB.NET or VC# for UI/UX simulator tool design
  • Practical knowledge of communication protocols: CAN, RS232, RS422, RS485, SPI, I2C, Timers, EEPROM, Flash Driver
  • Familiarity with source version control systems (Git, Subversion, Atlassian)
  • Skilled in real-time debugging using advanced tools (emulators, analyzers, scopes, JTAG/BDM, CANalyzer)

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Java or Python
  • Knowledge of ColdFire and ARM 32-bit microcontrollers
  • Familiarity with defect tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla)
  • Cybersecurity understanding and ability to interpret hardware schematics
  • Experience in product-based company environments
  • Ability to work in elevator hoistways and machine rooms as necessary
