Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a remote Senior Java Developer to join their team and to support the design, development, and enhancement of enterprise retail technology platforms. This role will focus on building scalable backend services, integrating with external systems, and supporting modern cloud-based applications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and APIs
* Build and support microservices-based architectures
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new platform capabilities and technology enhancements
* Develop integrations between enterprise systems and third-party solutions
* Participate in CI/CD, monitoring, and operational support activities
* Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery speed
REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of Java development experience, ideally Java 17+
* Strong Spring Boot experience, including Spring Cloud and microservices
* Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
* Strong Google Cloud Platform experience - GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL
* Experience with GitHub Actions and Spinnaker
* Experience with Grafana
* PostgreSQL and MySQL experience
* Strong hands-on AI development experience using tools such as Claude and Gemini
* Experience with AI-first development methodologies such as Spec-Driven Development and Superpower
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
