Senior Java Backend Developer Jobs in Tysons Corner, VA

Razor is seeking an experienced Backend Developer to design, develop, and support cloud-native applications and scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and AWS. This role will work within an Agile development environment to deliver secure, reliable solutions while leveraging automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices. The ideal candidate has strong Java backend development experience, hands-on AWS expertise, and experience developing and supporting microservices-based applications in production environments. Location & Work Arrangement * 95% Remote with approximately quarterly onsite attendance, based on program and client needs. * Preferred candidate location is the National Capital Region (Client), including Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. * Candidates located outside of the Client must be willing to relocate to the National Capital Region if required. Clearance Requirements * Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation is required. Key Responsibilities * Design, develop, implement, and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot * Develop cloud-native and microservices-based applications within AWS environments * Design, develop, and document REST/JSON APIs * Develop and support event-driven and distributed application architectures * Work with JPA/Hibernate and relational database technologies * Develop and optimize SQL and work with DDL, DML, and stored procedures * Implement secure API development practices, including authentication, authorization, and OWASP principles * Develop and execute unit, integration, and automated tests * Conduct code reviews and identify opportunities to improve code quality and development processes * Support GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments * Package and deploy containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes * Troubleshoot application, integration, and production issues * Develop and maintain technical specifications and system design documentation * Utilize AI-assisted development tools to support coding, code review, troubleshooting, and problem-solving * Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams within an Agile development environment * Evaluate emerging technologies and apply appropriate solutions to new and existing systems Required Qualifications * Strong professional backend development experience using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot * Experience developing microservices and event-driven architectures * Hands-on experience developing and supporting applications in AWS * Experience designing and developing REST/JSON APIs * Experience with JPA/Hibernate and relational databases * Strong SQL skills, including knowledge of DDL and DML and the ability to read and understand stored procedures * Experience with GitHub and CI/CD pipelines * Experience with unit, integration, and automated testing * Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized application deployment * Understanding of API security, authentication and authorization patterns, and OWASP secure coding practices * Experience troubleshooting application and production issues * Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, code review, troubleshooting, or related development activities * Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications * Experience with PostgreSQL and AWS-managed database technologies such as Amazon RDS or Aurora * Experience with messaging or message broker technologies * Experience with API, security, and performance testing tools such as Postman, OWASP ZAP, or JMeter * Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, or AppDynamics * Familiarity with Agile/SAFe methodologies * Experience with JIRA and Confluence * Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular for collaboration with frontend development teams Employer Information Razor is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
