Job description

 

The Controller will lead all day-to-day finance operations and have functional responsibility for the accounting process and maintenance of the general ledger, currently maintained using QuickBooks Online. In this role you will work closely across the leadership team regarding finance and accounting procedures, including interaction with a subsidiary operating in France. You will support the accounting needs of procurement, manufacturing, and sales leaders and research and development (in France and the US). 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Support external audit requirements related to revenue recognition, lease accounting and stock-compensation accounting (using SEC GAAP as a pre-IPO company).   
  • Partner with the leadership team to develop standard costs to manufacture the product and to estimate ending inventory at the end of each month.
  • Implement a budgeting process and forecasting cash flows to be used monthly.
  • Manage purchase orders and AP/AR.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies for transactions recorded/posted into the general ledger for accounts payable (using Bill.com), employee expenses (using Certify,) payroll (using TriNet), and stock-compensation (using Equity Edge currently maintained at the company's law firm).
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts monthly related to one subsidiary located in France, including currency translation calculations prepared by the subsidiary into US Dollars (the functional currency for US GAAP).
  • Reconcile all cash accounts daily to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and timely in the general ledger.
  • Prepare draft consolidated financial statements each month (currently using Excel downloaded information from QuickBooks).
  • Prepare timely and accurate analyses, summaries, and reports of financial data on the operating progress of the company as requested. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Business or Accounting degree mandatory, a master's in business administration is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a senior management role ideally with both external audit and in-house financial management experience gained in a high growth organization.
  • CPA preferred.  
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks budget, purchasing and customer invoicing a plus
  • Excellent judgment, creative problem solver including negotiation, self-reliant, and results oriented.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives.  
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, the company's board of directors, and team.
  • This is an on-site, full-time role in Weston, MA.
