Job description

Job Summary: The Sr Inventory Control Specialist assigns and reviews the work of personnel in the hospital materials distribution center.  During the absence of Inventory Control Manager, the group leader performs supervisory duties or responsibilities up to, but not including, taking disciplinary action.  Engages in receiving, shipping, unpacking, picking, staging, storage, verification, and monitoring of stock and stock items for hospital member institutions.  Maintains a high standard of accuracy and interacts frequently with the hospital data control system.

Responsibilities:

  • Assigns work to hospital personnel engaged in material distribution and ensures that assignments are completed.
  • Examines incoming shipments to verify receipt of the correct type and quantity of materials and supplies.
  • Unpacks and inspects items for damage/shortage.
  • Interacts with inventory control system to identify classification of items (stock/non-stock).  Accurately processes items according to standard operating procedures.
  • Correctly stores items at designated locations.
  • Packs and stages items, with a high degree of accuracy, for distribution to various hospital member institutions.
  • Takes periodic physical inventory of stock items.
  • Maintains records of materials and supplies.
  • Packs and stages items for shipments to vendors.
  • Audits ongoing orders to affiliates.
  • Prepares truck manifest, seals, and dispatches trucks.
  • Maintains time and productivity records.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience: A minimum of one year experience in Supply Chain. Two years of experience in healthcare, preferred.

Education:  High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Licenses / Certifications:  

Other:  Computer knowledge in; Word, Excel, Microsoft, ETC. Must be able to multi-task.
