We partner with top energy producers across Canada and internationally to design safe, reliable, and efficient facilities from early concept through execution and operation.

We are seeking a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer who brings deep technical expertise, strong project leadership, and a collaborative mindset. In this role, you will lead the civil and structural engineering scope on complex oil and gas projects, guiding designs from early-stage development through detailed engineering and construction support. This is an opportunity to play a key technical leadership role on multidisciplinary projects while mentoring the next generation of engineers.

Why Join Equinox?
  • Meaningful work on high-impact oil and gas facilities, pipelines, and SAGD projects
  • A people-focused culture that values technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Opportunity to lead civil/structural scopes on multidisciplinary EPCM projects
  • Exposure to diverse facilities projects across Canada and international markets
  • A flexible and supportive work environment designed for long-term career growth
What You'll Do
As a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering safe, constructible, and code-compliant designs. Your role will include:

Technical Leadership
  • Lead the civil and structural engineering design of oil and gas facilities, pipelines, and related infrastructure across all project phases-from conceptual and FEED through detailed engineering
  • Develop, analyze, review, and approve structural designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
  • Apply expertise in foundations, steel structures, concrete design, and modularized systems
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client specifications (CSA, CISC, NBC, provincial codes; experience with US or Australian codes and standards considered an asset)
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure structural designs are fully integrated with process, piping, electrical, and mechanical disciplines
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers and designers, supporting technical development and knowledge sharing
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables
Project Execution & Delivery
  • Manage civil/structural deliverables, schedules, and budgets to support on-time and on-budget project execution
  • Support project bidding, procurement, and construction phases with technical input and evaluations
  • Conduct design reviews, constructability assessments, and risk analyses to proactively identify and mitigate issues
Construction & Field Support
  • Perform site assessments and inspections as required
  • Provide engineering support during construction, responding to field queries and resolving technical challenges
  • Ensure designs are practical, buildable, and aligned with safety and quality standards
Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality requirements throughout the project lifecycle
  • Promote best practices in engineering quality control and continuous improvement
About You
You are an experienced civil/structural engineer who enjoys technical leadership and working within multidisciplinary EPCM environments. You bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required)
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA (required)
  • Minimum 10 years of civil/structural engineering experience, including 7+ years in EPCM oil and gas projects
  • Proven experience delivering facilities and pipeline projects; SAGD experience considered an asset
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
  • A detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Technical Expertise
  • Structural analysis and design of steel and concrete structures
  • Load calculations, foundations, and modularized systems
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable design codes and standards
