The mission of the Global Architecture Department is to set global architecture strategies and standards to enable secure, scalable, and innovative technology, data, analytics, and AI solutions that accelerate our business goals.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Aritzia is growing, and our Enterprise Integrations team in our Global Architecture department is growing with it. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical foundation that powers Everyday Luxury at scale. As the Senior Principal / Principal Engineer, Enterprise Integrations, you will set the multi-year technical direction for the systems that connect our commerce, retail, customer, and enterprise ecosystems - the platforms our People rely on and our clients feel with every seamless interaction. You will operate as the definitive technical authority across multiple domains, partnering with Technology leadership to translate ambition into resilient, scalable, and elegantly simple architecture. You will write the code that matters most, mentor the engineers who will build what comes next, and champion the engineering standards that make Aritzia's technology as elevated as our brand. THE ROLE

As the Senior Principal / Principal Engineer, Enterprise Integrations, you will:

  • Define the multi-year technical vision and system design for Aritzia's foundational platforms - including enterprise integrations, identity, customer data, and event-driven architectures - ensuring alignment with our business and architecture north stars
  • Serve as the definitive technical authority across multiple domains, providing executive-level advisory to Technology leadership on complex implementation challenges, technology selection, build vs. buy decisions, and implementation risk
  • Demonstrate expert-level, hands-on coding proficiency when the most critical technical challenges require it, writing production-quality code and setting the bar for engineering craftsmanship
  • Translate architectural intent into resilient, scalable, and operationally sound implementations, challenging assumptions and improving decisions where warranted
  • Own end-to-end platform quality attributes: high availability (targeting 99.99%), performance, cost efficiency, security, observability, and operational excellence
  • Establish and evolve engineering standards, platform practices, and workflows adopted across the organization, including trunk-based development, CI/CD, feature flagging, automated testing, chaos engineering, and safe deployment practices
  • Lead engineering maturity initiatives - code development standards, observability, SRE practices, and Communities of Excellence - increasing engineering throughput and velocity across teams
  • Mentor and elevate Staff and Senior Engineers across multiple teams, acting as a force multiplier that accelerates delivery and builds engineering excellence at Aritzia
  • Drive AI-enabled developer velocity through adoption of modern practices and tools (GitHub Copilot, spec-driven development, AI-assisted code review and security scanning)
  • Influence technology strategy and investment decisions through technical insight into feasibility, risk, cost, and long-term business impact

THE QUALIFICATIONS

The Senior Principal / Principal Engineer, Enterprise Integrations has:

  • Proven and best-in-class skills, applicable certifications,educationand/or experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent experience; Master's preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 7+ years of technical leadership designing and scaling resilient distributed systems in fast-growing consumer or retail ecosystems
  • Expert-level coding ability across multiple languages and frameworks (e.g., Java/Spring Boot, Python, C#), with a track record of solving the most complex technical challenges hands-on
  • Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture: AWS, Kubernetes, service mesh (e.g., Istio), Terraform/IaC, containerization, and GitOps-style CI/CD
  • Proven track record designing and operating highly available, distributed, event-driven systems with 99.99% availability SLAs, driving structural cost efficiency without compromising resilience or security
  • Deep experience with enterprise integration and API platforms: API gateways (Apigee, Kong), orchestration, canonical models, and governed downstream consumption at scale
  • Experience building identity and customer data platforms, including omni customer profiles, common identifiers across digital and retail, consent, and vendor evaluation for identity solutions
  • Strong background in observability and operational excellence: New Relic, Datadog, Splunk, proactive monitoring, MTTx metrics, chaos engineering, and performance engineering
  • Experience defining enterprise semantic layers and canonical models - taxonomies, ontologies, and knowledge graphs - used across multiple product teams and business domains
  • Exposure to AI-driven systems: optimization, predictions, agents, LLM-powered applications, and AI-assisted developer tooling (AWS AI-DLC, OpenSpec, SpecKit, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex)
  • Recognized ability to mentor and elevate Staff and Senior Engineers at scale, and to lead engineering Communities of Excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to influence VP and C-level stakeholders through clarity of technical thought, balanced trade-off analysis, and business-aligned recommendations
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or similarly complex consumer domains strongly preferred
