The Gig:
Virgin Voyages is seeking an Instructional Designer with deep expertise in end-to-end instructional design, from intake and needs analysis through design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This role serves as a strategic learning partner to the business-consulting with stakeholders, translating performance gaps into impactful learning solutions, and delivering engaging, modern experiences across digital, virtual, and instructor-led modalities. This role is ideal for a learning professional who is also highly skilled in digital content creation, comfortable leveraging AI tools, and passionate about building learning that drives measurable business outcomes.
This gig is based at VVHQ - our swanky Virgin Voyages Head Office in Plantation, FL where we follow a hybrid work environment. We can't wait to 'sea' you in person during our Collaboration Days, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, while you enjoy Mondays and Fridays' as remote days.
What You'll Be Up To:
Instructional Design & Strategy

  • Own the full instructional design lifecycle, including intake, performance and needs analysis, solution design, development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Partner consultatively with stakeholders and SMEs to identify learning needs and recommend the right learning solutions
  • Design learning journeys aligned to business goals, performance outcomes, and adult learning principles
  • Apply data, feedback, and evaluation results to continuously improve learning effectiveness and ROI Digital & Learning Experience Design
  • Design and develop engaging digital learning experiences, including eLearning, videos, simulations, microlearning, and blended solutions

Digital & Learning Experience Design
  • Translate complex content into clear, learner-centered experiences using strong visual and interaction design principles
  • Utilize modern digital authoring and design tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Rise, Synthesia, Vyond, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
  • Ensure learning assets are accessible, scalable, and aligned with brand and experience standards

AI & Innovation
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance instructional design, content creation, storyboarding, assessment development, and learner engagement
  • Experiment with emerging learning technologies and AI-enabled workflows to improve speed, quality, and personalization of learning
  • Stay current on L&D trends, AI use cases, and best practices, and apply them pragmatically to the organization

Facilitation & Delivery
  • Facilitate instructor-led and virtual learning experiences for various audiences from frontline to senior leadership
  • Support onboarding, leadership development, and ongoing capability-building initiatives to ensure a consistent, high-quality learner experience.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement
  • Build and implement evaluation strategies to measure learning effectiveness and business impact
  • Analyze learner feedback, performance data, and outcomes to inform improvements and future learning strategies
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Learn & Grow processes, standards, and design practices

SuperPowers Required:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Education, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in instructional design or learning experience design
  • Demonstrated experience owning projects from needs analysis through evaluation
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design models, and performance-based learning
  • Proficiency with digital learning design and development tools
  • Experience designing across multiple modalities: eLearning, instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning
  • Strong stakeholder consulting, communication, and facilitation skills

Preferred:
  • Experience using AI tools for learning design, content creation, or analysis
  • Experience working with an LMS and learning analytics
  • Background in hospitality, service, or customer-centric industries
