SUMMARY:

Join Oshkosh Corporation as a Senior IBM i Platform & Power Systems Engineer and play a key role in evolving one of our most critical enterprise platforms. In this role, you'll own the architecture, reliability, security, and modernization of our IBM Power infrastructure supporting mission-critical ERP systems across the enterprise.

You'll work across IBM Power hardware, IBM i operating systems, virtualization, storage, automation, and high availability while helping drive initiatives in observability, Infrastructure as Code, AIOps, and platform security. WORK LOCATION

This position is based at our Menasha Data Center in Menasha, Wisconsin. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. Oshkosh Corporation follows a hybrid work model, with three days on-site and two days remote each week.

YOUR IMPACT:

Plans, designs, implements, and supports the server systems, including IBM Power servers, IBM i OS partitions, HMC, VIO Servers, and IBM DS storage arrays. The position ensures stability of our mission-critical ERP platforms while driving innovation in observability, automation, and security.

  • Serve as the technical lead and escalation point for complex operational support, troubleshooting, security enforcement, and performance tuning across IBM Power systems and IBM i OS environments.

  • Manage the IBM Power and IBM i ecosystem end-to-end, including hardware, virtualization, and operating system administration.

  • Administer IBM VIOS environments, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Drive the adoption of observability and AIOps practices to improve monitoring, reduce mean time to resolution, and proactively identify issues.

  • Advance automation through Infrastructure-as-Code (Ansible, CL) to implement best practices, streamline patching and compliance, and reduce operational overhead through automation.

  • Support the design, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of HA/DR solutions (MIMIX or similar) to ensure ERP availability and business continuity.

  • Partner with infrastructure, cybersecurity, application, and business teams to support modernization initiatives while maintaining platform stability.

  • Provide mentoring, technical guidance, and strong communication to bridge technical and business stakeholders and help establish engineering best practices.

  • Participate in on-call support and planned maintenance activities to ensure the continued availability of critical business systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five (4) or more years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Proven expertise with HMC, MIMIX HA/DR, VIO server, and IBM DS storage.

  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes, incident resolution, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting, CL scripting, and infrastructure design.

  • Ability to work standard business hours, with availability for after-hours/weekend work during patching, OS upgrades, and on-call rotations.

  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field.

  • Experience managing IBM i OS and IBM Power hardware environments.

  • Experience implementing observability and AIOps initiatives to reduce noise, accelerate incident response, and drive predictive insights.

  • Familiar with Fortra products (Alert, Console, Compliance Monitor, Exit Point Manager) or similar products.

  • Background in driving platform security initiatives and automating compliance.

Pay Range:

$82,900.00 - $134,300.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
