These skills ensure reliable, secure, and scalable IT environments that support organizational goals.

What are some common challenges faced by senior infrastructure engineers when supporting large-scale systems?

Senior Infrastructure Engineers often encounter challenges such as ensuring high availability and reliability of systems, managing complex migrations, and optimizing performance under heavy workloads. Job Description

Description

This is a developing technical contributor role for an engineer with solid Juniper routing and switching experience who is ready to build their career in a technically rigorous environment. You have around 4 years of relevant experience, a CCNP-level foundation, and real hands-on time with Juniper platforms. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers on complex enterprise infrastructure, sharpen your skills on live engagements, and grow in an environment that takes quality seriously.

Work Location

This position supports a program based in the Woodlawn, MD area. Candidates located outside a 50-mile radius of that area are welcome to apply. For those candidates, regular onsite presence will generally not be required; however, we do ask that new hires plan to spend approximately one week onsite following the completion of system access and credentialing to meet the team and become familiar with the environment. Ongoing, we’d ask for at least one day onsite per quarter — or a combined multi-day visit that covers multiple quarters — where feasible.

Please note that this is a full-time, direct-hire role.  Due to segments of our customer base, we cannot sponsor employment visas. It is required that you have the ability to obtain and maintain a public trust.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to technical projects as a developing team member, working under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Support Juniper routing and switching tasks including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Assist in producing technical documentation with review and feedback from senior team members
  • Raise issues that could impact a project to the appropriate senior engineer or leadership

Position Requirements

  • Around 4 years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking
  • Active CCNP certification or equivalent; Juniper certifications such as JNCIS-ENT are equally welcome
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Juniper routing and switching platforms — configuration, troubleshooting, and day-to-day operations
  • Solid understanding of enterprise routing and switching protocols including BGP, OSPF, and standard Layer 2/Layer 3 fundamentals
  • Works well with regular oversight; takes direction, applies it consistently, and is building toward greater independence
  • Able to contribute to detailed technical documents with guidance and editorial review
  • Understands the importance of keeping project and forecast information accurate and follows company policies consistently

Education

  • CCNP level certification or equivalent required; Juniper JNCIP or equivalent is equally welcome
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent
