Job description

HealthPartners is hiring a Senior IT Business Analyst - Virtual Care. This role plays a key part in advancing HealthPartners' virtual care strategy by supporting the continued evolution and optimization of digital access experiences, including EVisits and telehealth capabilities. The Senior IT Business Analyst works across a highly cross-functional environment, partnering with Epic application teams, digital product, marketing, clinical operations, and other stakeholders to maintain and enhance virtual care workflows, clinical protocols, and patient-facing experiences. This position supports high-visibility Access & Care initiatives, helping identify opportunities to improve access, convenience, and the overall consumer experience while ensuring strong alignment between business strategy and technology execution.

The Senior IT Business Analyst reports to the Manager, Digital Product Management, and joins a collaborative, cross functional team focused on delivering meaningful, patientcentered digital solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, health care or six (6) years of IT experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in IT product management and IT incident resolution
  • One (1) year of experience in small- to medium-sized project management/leadership
  • Experience with databases, programming languages, and/or end-user software in a complex networked environment
  • Effectively establish and maintain working relationships with peers and constituents.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills for technical and non-technical topics
  • Effective at analyzing and resolving problems.
  • Ability to read technical documentation.
  • Arbitration and negotiation skills
  • Able to manage a high degree of change.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a care-delivery role, including but not limited to nursing, rehab services, or other positions involving direct patient support.
  • One (1) year of experience working with current healthcare software and/or hardware technologies. 
  • Experience with Epic or other electronic health record (EHR) systems strongly preferred. 
  • Three (3) years of experience breaking down initiatives into Epics and user stories. 
  • Experience working on crossfunctional Agile teams. 
  • Exposure to customerfacing web applications. 
  • Comfortable partnering with backend engineers, including defining and documenting API requirements. 
  • Experience with process and data mapping

Hours/Location:

  • M-F; core business hours
  • This position may work remotely; however, we prefer local candidates who can be onsite at our Bloomington corporate office on a regular basis each Thursday.

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with clinical leaders, operational stakeholders, and digital product teams to define, evaluate, and optimize virtual care workflows, including Evisits, telehealth capabilities, and digital access experiences. 
  • Collaborate with clinicians and subject matter experts to design, maintain, and enhance evidence-based clinical protocols, patient triage logic, questionnaires, and decision-support workflows that support safe, efficient virtual care delivery. 
  • Translate business, clinical, and operational needs into clear functional and technical requirements that enable scalable virtual care solutions aligned with organizational strategy. 
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, Epic application teams, development teams, and digital experience partners to ensure successful delivery of virtual care enhancements and technology capabilities. 
  • Lead analysis and solution design for initiatives that improve patient access, care routing, and the overall end-to-end consumer experience across the virtual care portfolio. 
  • Evaluate current virtual care workflows and patient journeys to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, operational efficiency, and experience optimization. 
  • Partners with marketing, UX, operational partners to ensure digital care experiences are intuitive, consumer-centered, and aligned with engagement and adoption goals. 
  • Develop functional specifications, workflow documentation, process maps, and technical requirements that clearly communicate business intent and clinical workflow expectations to development teams. 
  • Support prioritization and intake of enhancement requests, balancing business value, patient experience impact, clinical safety considerations, operational readiness, and technical feasibility. 
  • Facilitate stakeholder alignment across cross-functional teams by leading requirements gathering, workflow design sessions, decision-making discussions, and validation of proposed solutions. 
  • Investigate production issues, workflow defects, and patient experience pain points by partnering with technical teams and business stakeholders to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions. 
  • Maintain documentation supporting governance, change management, clinical protocol decisions, workflow updates, and compliance with organizational technology standards. 
  • Analyze system behavior, workflow performance, and stakeholder feedback to inform continuous improvement efforts across the virtual care experience.
