Job description

New Tech Global is currently seeking a Senior Surveyor for a direct hire opportunity in Houston, Texas.
Shift: 12-hour shifts | Rotation: 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off | Travel: 100%
Overview
The Senior Surveyor is responsible for leading offshore hydrographic survey operations and supervising survey teams during marine construction and offshore projects. The role provides technical guidance, ensures data quality, maintains compliance with project requirements, and supports safe and efficient offshore operations.
  • Lead and supervise offshore survey operations and survey personnel.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Provide technical guidance on hydrographic surveying methods, equipment, and data collection.
  • Oversee the acquisition, processing, quality control, and reporting of survey data.
  • Ensure survey deliverables meet project specifications and are submitted on schedule.
  • Operate and oversee survey systems including multibeam echo sounders, GPS/GNSS, sonar, GIS, and related equipment.
  • Monitor vessel operations and promote compliance with safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with troubleshooting survey equipment and operational issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, field reports, and project records.
  • Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work after hours or weekends as required and travel extensively for offshore assignments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 48 months of hydrographic surveying experience with relevant leadership experience.
  • Experience operating hydrographic survey equipment and software such as Qinsy, Qimera, sonar, MBES, GPS, and GIS.
  • Approximately 300 operational offshore days in a Senior Surveyor, Senior Survey Engineer, Senior Geophysicist, or similar leadership role preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard computer applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required offshore certifications (OGUK Physical, BOSIET/BST, offshore medical, and survival training).
  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally, as required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 4-week rotation with 100% travel.
