Job description

Cardinal Health Medical Products & Distribution business segment is seeking a highly motivated individual contributor to build and expand relationships with some of the region's largest health systems. The Director of Corporate Accounts (Health Systems Sales) is an individual contributor role is responsible for developing and executing strategic growth plans within 4-6 assigned health systems in the region.

As a trusted advisor, you will partner with executive stakeholders to lead complex sales opportunities and influence strategic decisions. The ideal candidate is consultative, resilient, and skilled at leading through influence, navigating ambiguity, and delivering innovative solutions that create customer value. The ideal candidate is located in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the strategic quarterback for assigned health systems, aligning internal teams around customer priorities and enterprise opportunities.
  • Partner with healthcare leaders to understand organizational priorities and align Cardinal Health solutions to support their goals.
  • Identify and advance strategic opportunities across medical products, distribution, and value-added services.
  • Lead complex sales engagements, contract discussions, and enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Create and execute strategic account plans that strengthen customer partnerships and support mutual success.
  • Facilitate executive business reviews and serve as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders.
  • Act as main point of contact for problem solving, issues and opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Sales, Clinical, Operations, Contracting, Marketing, Product Management, and other business partners to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Drive execution through collaboration and influence, achieving results within a matrixed environment without direct authority.
  • Foster strong partnerships with Acute Care, Non-Acute Care, Specialty, and Field Sales teams to identify opportunities, remove obstacles, and enhance the customer experience.
  • Monitor industry trends, customer needs, and market dynamics to identify opportunities for innovation and partnership.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer internally, helping shape solutions and strategies that improve operational efficiency, resiliency, and patient care.
  • Maintain compliance with travel policies, credentialing requirements, and company procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as requested to ensure sales goals and objectives are met.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of enterprise sales, strategic account management, or health system sales experience within healthcare, medical products, healthcare services, supply chain, or related industries.
  • Proven success managing complex large customer relationships and enterprise-level sales opportunities.
  • Experience engaging senior healthcare leaders, including supply chain, procurement, finance, and executive stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving & Strategic Thinking: Ability to solve complex customer challenges, develop innovative solutions, and navigate ambiguity. Leverages data, collaboration, and business acumen to overcome obstacles and deliver results in complex healthcare environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build alignment, and drive results across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working across multiple commercial and operational functions in a matrixed organization.
  • Knowledge of healthcare supply chain, distribution, healthcare services, or healthcare technology solutions.
  • Financial Acumen: Ability to interpret financial metrics, assess business opportunities, and develop solutions that drive profitability, customer value, and strategic growth.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments while balancing customer needs and internal priorities.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% within the assigned region.
  • Must reside within or near the assigned territory and have access to a major airport.
  • Ability to work effectively from a remote home office environment or in the field.
  • Customer/Vendor credentialing is required (this may include vaccinations). More details will be provided if you are selected for an interview.

Anticipated pay range: $193,000-$257,000 (includes targeted variable pay)
