Job description

About AJ Glass

Founded in 2002, AJ Glass has been a trusted provider of commercial glass solutions in Metro Atlanta for over two decades. Our commitment to problem-solving, superior quality, and exceeding expectations sets us apart. We believe in uncompromising attention to detail and a steadfast pursuit of excellence, which is reflected in every project we complete. Clients choose us because they know their project is in the hands of metro Atlanta’s best.

Position Summary

AJ Glass is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Glazing to serve as a project owner, senior technical resource, and mentor within our Project Management team. This role is designed for an experienced commercial glazing professional who can manage a smaller portfolio of more complex projects while helping Project Managers (PMs) and Assistant Project Managers (APMs) strengthen technical judgment, process discipline, customer execution, and independence.

In addition to owning select projects, this position provides final technical checking of shop drawings and glass orders after the assigned PM completes the initial review, along with targeted second-level review of selected submittals, hardware orders, and constructability issues. The Senior PM will help coach developing team members, turn recurring technical knowledge into practical standards and checklists, and model reliable, organized, proactive execution. Experienced hires are expected to learn AJ Glass’s processes and operating model before attempting to change them.

Role Outcomes

  • Successfully manage a smaller portfolio of more complex commercial glazing projects while maintaining schedule, budget, customer communication, and AJ Glass quality standards.
  • Reduce technical-review and coaching burden currently concentrated with Project Management leadership by providing disciplined final checks, sound technical guidance, and timely escalation.
  • Develop PM and APM capability so team members gain judgment and independence rather than becoming dependent on the Senior PM to take work back.
  • Help convert recurring technical knowledge and lessons learned into useful standards, procedures, checklists, and training aids in coordination with the Head of Project Management.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage select, more complex commercial glazing projects from project release through closeout, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to AJ Glass standards.
  • Perform final technical checks of shop drawings and glass orders after the assigned PM completes the initial review; provide risk-based second-level review of selected submittals, hardware orders, and related documentation for accuracy, constructability, and alignment with approved project requirements.
  • Coach and mentor Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers through project reviews, questions, and real work by teaching problem-solving methods, identifying technical risks, and helping them become increasingly independent rather than simply taking work back.
  • Support onboarding and development of new Project Management team members, including helping them learn AJ Glass processes, checklists, documentation standards, and project expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Project Management, CAD, Project Managers, fabrication/warehouse, field teams, and vendors to identify and resolve field-measurement, existing-condition, design, hardware, fabrication, and sequencing issues before material release or installation.
  • After learning AJ Glass systems and workflows, serve as a trusted technical resource on commercial interior glazing, storefront, heavy glass, hardware, fabrication, installation methods, field conditions, and constructability.
  • Model and reinforce AJ Glass processes and documentation standards, and help convert recurring lessons learned into practical standards, procedures, checklists, and training tools through the Head of Project Management.
  • Communicate proactively with customers and internal teams about project status, technical issues, scope gaps, changes, schedule or cost impacts, and next steps; follow through until ownership and resolution are clear.
  • Verify critical field information and existing conditions, identify missing or conflicting inputs, and raise technical risk early enough to protect material release, installation, schedule, and customer commitments.
  • Identify recurring technical, process, mentoring, or workload themes and provide concise feedback to the Head of Project Management and senior leadership without becoming the central approval point for every project decision.

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant commercial construction project-management experience; 8+ years is preferred, including substantial direct commercial glazing project-management experience. Direct commercial glazing experience is required for this senior role.
  • Strong practical knowledge of commercial interior glazing and storefront, including field verification, existing condition/retrofit work, heavy glass, glass and hardware ordering, fabrication, installation sequencing, and constructability. Curtain wall and other exterior experience are valuable, but they are not a substitute for detailed interior-glazing capability and adaptability to AJ Glass’s high-volume, shorter-cycle environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management is a plus, but we also highly value hands-on experience.
  • Strong ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings, shop drawings, submittals, manufacturer information, and field conditions, and to identify missing or conflicting information before material release.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and reprioritize multiple concurrent projects and interruptions without losing accuracy, documentation, customer communication, or follow-through.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and relevant industry software such as AutoCAD/CAD drawings, Bluebeam/Adobe, and Procore; comfortable using digital tools to verify dimensions, details, documentation, and constructability.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop PMs and APMs while also remaining coachable, accepting functional direction, and reinforcing established leadership rather than creating competing channels.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong technical judgment, an appropriate sense of urgency, proactive follow-through, reliability, curiosity, humility, and confidence without arrogance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and sound interpersonal judgment; able to adapt communication to the audience, ask good questions when information is incomplete, and keep customers and teammates informed.
  • Process-disciplined and solution-oriented; willing to learn AJ Glass methods, use established checklists and controls, and understand why a process exists before proposing changes.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk, stand, or climb ladders for extended periods during site visits.

• Comfortable navigating active construction sites, sometimes in varying weather conditions.

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (project materials, plans, samples).

This is a full-time, office-based position in Marietta, GA. Regular in-office collaboration is expected, with jobsite/field activity and reasonable schedule flexibility based on project needs. Reliability, proactive communication, and team availability are essential. Apply today and be a part of the future of AJ Glass!
