We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing team at Vitro Architectural Glass in Meadville, PA. Responsibilities

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for safely getting power to all plant operations and protecting our people as well as the operation of making glass. This includes developing electrical devices and testing them for safety and efficiency, managing the manufacturing process of new electrical equipment, maintaining and improving current equipment, automation solutions, using design software to produce or revise schematics, and overseeing the trouble shooting of equipment.

  • Working in and around High, Medium and Low Voltage Switchgear and Transformers
  • Working knowledge of NFPA70E and NEC as it applies to industrial installations.
  • Working in and around Low Voltage distribution points and Motor Control Centers
  • Understanding, implementing, and troubleshooting designs using technical drawings and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Interacting with employees (within maintenance and other departments), contractors, and vendors using verbal and written communication
  • Making presentations for projects and training for coworkers
  • Creating or revising plant equipment documentation and records.
  • Managing Preventative and Predictive Maintenance (PM) tasks throughout the facility
  • Decision making and submitting store stock additions for spare parts to assure process reliability.
  • Regarding plant power systems, develop and/or execute work scope for maintenance of transformers, emergency generators and switchgear.
  • A strong interest is essential for maintenance of facility utilities and process equipment as well as efficiency improvements.
  • Works with systems that include switchgear, emergency generators, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), process instrumentation, robotics, safety systems and other industrial equipment.
  • He/she determines the most efficient manufacturing methods that will produce a quality product. Provides services for installation, maintenance and improvement of plant equipment and facilities. Interacts with vendors and corporate engineering to aid in start-up of new equipment.
  • Lead troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvements of hardware circuits and software for controls, power equipment, and safety systems.
  • Preparation of cost estimates and authorization requests for management evaluation and is frequent contact with purchasing and storeroom to ensure the availability of critical parts and materials.
  • Support and works with other departments in determining electrical and process control needs for all plant facilities.
  • Makes recommendations and at times decisions on selection of equipment for new installations and modifications to existing equipment
  • Ensure that all assigned projects are designed to comply with Vitro policies, federal, state and local safety standards and regulations, along with Contractor Safety Manual installation procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering
  • Demonstrated computer application skills, including programmable logic control (PLC's) and HMI's.
  • Have a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to take a hands-on approach to their work.
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce, including union personnel, contractors and corporate staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Organized and can prioritize based on the current facility needs.
  • Manage capital projects and improvements from conception to implementation, including competitive bidding, funding requests, material purchasing, project scheduling, installation, preventative maintenance, and documentation creation.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills required.
  • Knowledge of lean principles
