What You'll Do
Epic is looking for a Senior Level Designer to join our Design team working on Fortnite Battle Royale. In this role, you'll use your level design experience, knowledge of design tools, and understanding of competitive multiplayer gameplay to create and evolve memorable locations and experiences for Fortnite players. Level Designers at Epic are part of a cross-disciplinary content team working together to build compelling gameplay spaces that expand and evolve the Fortnite universe.
In this role, you will
  • Design and build buildings, natural landmarks, POIs, and gameplay spaces for Fortnite using modular kits while balancing visual quality, gameplay needs, and player flow
  • Create compelling and competitive PvP spaces that support a variety of playstyles, combat scenarios, traversal options, and player strategies
  • Own and drive the vision for in-game locations from early planning and blockout through iteration, polish, and ship
  • Use environmental and ambient storytelling to bring locations and the broader Fortnite world to life
  • Prototype, playtest, iterate, and make informed design decisions based on player experience and gameplay needs
  • Partner closely with Art, Gameplay, Production, and other disciplines to align creative vision with gameplay and production requirements
  • Provide thoughtful design feedback and help maintain a high-quality bar across the team Identify and solve complex level design problems while working within technical, gameplay, and production constraints
What we're looking for
  • 7+ years of professional Level Design experience, or equivalent experience
  • Experience designing and shipping multiplayer PvP levels or gameplay spaces; Battle Royale experience is a plus
  • Experience using Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5) or comparable professional level design tools
  • Experience taking levels or major gameplay spaces from concept/blockout through iteration, polish, and ship
  • Understanding of multiplayer level design fundamentals, including player flow, combat spaces, traversal, sightlines, readability, pacing, and risk/reward
  • Experience working directly with environment artists on prop placement, lighting, mood/atmosphere, composition, and design markup
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines, communicate design intent, provide feedback, and incorporate feedback from others
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify problems, develop solutions, and iterate based on playtesting and player experience
