Job description

Caregiver plays a vital role in supporting residents' daily lives across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. This position provides hands-on assistance with daily activities while ensuring each resident is treated with compassion, dignity, and respect.

At Peaceful Pines Senior Living, Living Life Together means recognizing that every resident has a unique story, preferences, and pace of life. The Caregiver supports not only physical needs, but also emotional well-being, connection, and purpose-helping residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Resident Care:
• Assist Assisted Living and Memory Care residents with activities of daily living including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, mobility, and transfers.
• Support residents with eating, hydration, and overall comfort throughout the day.
• Provide care that promotes safety, dignity, independence, and personal choice.
• Assist with positioning, walking, bending, kneeling, and transporting residents as needed.
• Record vital signs and observe physical and emotional changes in residents.
• Provide support through conversation, companionship, and emotional presence.
• Recognize and honor each resident's preferences, routines, and personal history.
• Utilize person-centered and dementia-informed care techniques to support residents experiencing cognitive impairment, confusion, anxiety, or behavioral expressions.

Resident Experience & Engagement:
• Answer call lights and pendant systems promptly and respond with urgency and compassion.
• Engage residents in meaningful interactions during care-not just task completion.
• Encourage participation in activities, social engagement, and dining experiences.
• Support residents in maintaining independence and choice in their daily routines.
• Observe mood, behavior, and engagement, and respond with empathy and understanding.
• Contribute to a warm, home-like environment where residents feel connected and valued.

Daily Living Support:
• Support meal service with attention to presentation, dignity, and resident preference.
• Assist residents during meals, as needed, while encouraging independence.
• Clean and reset dining areas after meals.
• Recognize dining as a key part of social connection and daily enjoyment.

Documentation & Communication:
• Document outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and intake accurately and timely.
• Communicate changes in health condition, behavior, or care needs to nursing leadership.
• Share important updates with team members across shifts to ensure continuity of care.
• Follow all documentation policies and regulatory requirements.

Team Collaboration & Culture:
• Promote and support a positive work environment.
• Work closely with nursing, culinary, and life enrichment teams to support the full resident experience.
• Contribute to a culture of person-centered care and shared accountability.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing development.

Safety, Compliance & Infection Control:
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident and staff information.
• Follow all Peaceful Pines policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations.
• Adhere to OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection control and safety practices.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment for residents and team members.
• Complete light housekeeping duties as needed to support resident comfort and safety.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must submit to a TB test in accordance with state regulations.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to perform physical tasks required in caregiving (lifting, bending, standing, etc.)

HOURS:
• Friday through Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Employees receive 4 weeks off every 6 months. A $4.00 per hour shift differential is paid for all hours worked between 6:00 a.m. Friday and 6:00 a.m. Monday.
