Senior Estimator – Commercial Drywall

Location: Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA


About the Opportunity

We’re partnered with a leading commercial drywall contractor known for delivering high-quality work across complex, large-scale projects. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a Senior Estimator to play a key role in driving preconstruction efforts and securing new business.

This is a high-impact position offering visibility with leadership and the opportunity to mentor junior estimators while helping shape overall bidding strategy.


Position Overview

The Senior Estimator will lead full-cycle estimating for commercial drywall and related scopes, from initial review through bid submission and project handoff. This individual will serve as a technical expert, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and strategic alignment on all pursuits.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead estimating efforts for commercial drywall scopes including metal stud framing, drywall, insulation, acoustical ceilings, and specialty systems
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop accurate, competitive cost estimates
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define scope and identify risks
  • Develop scope clarifications, exclusions, and value engineering options
  • Solicit, level, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Prepare and present bid proposals, budgets, and pricing strategies
  • Collaborate with project managers, executives, and clients throughout preconstruction
  • Mentor and support junior estimators, ensuring quality and consistency
  • Maintain and improve cost databases, historical data, and estimating processes
  • Participate in post-bid reviews, client presentations, and project handoffs

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial drywall or related trades
  • Strong knowledge of drywall assemblies, metal framing systems, and acoustical ceilings
  • Proven track record of successfully bidding and winning work
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret construction documents
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation abilities
  • Proficiency in Excel and estimating software

Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar tools
  • Experience working in high-volume or large-scale commercial environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field

Work Environment
  • Primarily office-based with occasional site visits and pre-bid meetings
  • Fast-paced, collaborative environment with multiple concurrent bids
