THE OPPORTUNITY
This position is for an experienced Full Stack Developer to join the ePub team. At this time, we are looking to complement the team with an individual with comprehensive full-stack development experience, strong communication skills, and an ability to collaborate in an agile environment.
As our ideal candidate, you will be comfortable developing and maintaining both client-side and server-side features of web and hybrid mobile applications while solving complex user experience issues. You will need to communicate effectively with different team members to advocate for our end users and their experience within our projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for building seamless user interfaces and maintaining our back-end architecture while consistently researching new features from framework and library upgrades.
THE TEAM
This position is on the ePub Team. The ePub application is a full-stack web application that enables our Publishing Team to manage product data and imagery. While our primary focus is ensuring all items are seamlessly pushed to eCommerce to be presented on dillards.com for our customers, the team also actively interfaces with and supports multiple other vital areas across the business.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Follow an SDLC of Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Implementation, and Maintenance spanning the entire full-stack ecosystem.
  • Learn the business environment while working in a collaborative environment to achieve organizational goals.
  • Communicate frequently with the team lead and other team members to ensure tasks are being completed accurately, on time, and goals are met.
  • Develop new front-end user experiences, robust back-end features, or fix bugs as assigned for the applications for which your Squad is responsible.
  • Be involved in Peer Reviews of full-stack development work completed by other developers within the ePub team.
  • Stay current with framework and library upgrades across the entire stack through implementation and constant research.
  • Advocate for migration to new features in framework and library updates.
  • Research and implement industry best practices in web and hybrid mobile applications.
  • Work on a schedule-driven project list while addressing active updates or operational interruptions to support business objectives.
  • Develop, maintain, and conduct comprehensive unit tests for front-end and back-end quality assurance validations.
  • Maintain a high level of attendance and professionalism.

THE "MUST-HAVES"
  • 3+ Years of Full-Stack Development Experience: Strong proficiency in developing both web user interfaces (front-end) and robust server-side architectures (back-end).
  • Language Proficiency: Experience with Java or Java-based languages (e.g., Kotlin or Groovy) for back-end systems, alongside modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks for front-end development.
  • Data & Media Management: Familiarity with handling and processing structured product data, relational/non-relational databases, and digital imagery pipelines.
  • eCommerce Integration: Understanding of web services, RESTful APIs, and data synchronization processes required to push content to consumer-facing platforms like dillards.com.
  • Version Control: Comprehensive understanding of Git-based source control, including pushing, pulling, commits, and branch management.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to support multiple applications with a variety of frameworks, libraries, and languages across the full development stack.

THE "NICE-TO-HAVES"
  • Enterprise eCommerce Knowledge: Prior experience working with large-scale retail architectures, internal content management systems (CMS), or product information management (PIM) tools.
  • Cloud & DevOps Foundations: Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization (like Docker), or CI/CD pipelines to build and deploy applications smoothly.
  • UI/UX Sensitivity: A sharp eye for responsive web design, accessibility standards, and clean user workflows that help internal business users work more efficiently.
  • AI-Assisted Development: Experience utilizing modern A.I. tools and coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Gemini) to optimize development workflows, accelerate prototyping, and enhance code quality.

Location & Hours: This is a full-time, on-site position located at our Little Rock, Arkansas headquarters. A high level of attendance is required as an essential function of this position.
