What is a senior front end web developer?

Senior Front End Web Developers are experienced professionals who design, implement, and optimize the user-facing components of websites and web applications. They use programming languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js, to create interactive and responsive interfaces. In addition to coding, they often mentor junior developers, ensure best practices for performance and accessibility, and collaborate closely with designers and back-end developers to deliver seamless digital experiences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior front end web developer?

To thrive as a Senior Front End Web Developer, you need advanced proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks like React or Angular, often supported by a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related experience. Familiarity with build tools (Webpack, Babel), version control systems (Git), and testing libraries, as well as knowledge of accessibility and performance optimization, is typically required. Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills help you translate business requirements into effective, user-friendly interfaces and mentor junior developers. Job description

We Are:
Accenture Song accelerates growth and value for our clients through sustained customer relevance. Our capabilities span ideation to execution: growth, product and experience design; technology and experience platforms; creative, media and marketing strategy; and campaign, content and channel orchestration. With strong client relationships and deep industry expertise, we help our clients operate at the speed of life through the unlimited potential of imagination, technology and intelligence. Visit us at: www.accenture.com/song

Digital Products creates value for our clients, their employees, and their customers. We design and build impactful experiences fueled by technology that change the way people work and live. With expertise in product strategy, design, innovation, and delivery transformation at scale, assisting with design thinking, integrating user-experience design/research, and impeccable development for native mobile, web, and embedded systems, we help bring clarity to any omni-channel product vision.

You Are:
While most people have no idea what you do or how you do it, you know exactly what it takes to own a domain end-to-end, translate creative vision into scalable web implementations, and bring the engineers around you up to your standard. Clients rely on you directly for project plans and scope, not just delivery, and you're comfortable being the senior or lead voice in the room when there's no clear answer. If you're passionate about developing rich, interactive digital solutions that move a brand forward, and about pairing that craft with modern AI-assisted development practices, we'd like to meet you.

The Work:

Own front-end technical design and quality for a product/domain, hands-on, translating creative and UX direction into scalable, accessible HTML5/CSS/JavaScript (TypeScript) implementations across desktop and mobile

Set the technical patterns and code-review standards your squad follows for cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, performance, and accessibility

Work independently as the senior or lead front-end developer, coaching and guiding engineers within your area of expertise

Communicate frequently and directly with clients on project plans and scope

Hold overall accountability for the delivery of front-end solution design and deliverables

Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, standards compliance, re-usability, and maintainability

Provide technical support for escalated incidents/outages to minimize client impact

Rapidly prototype new concepts through self-initiated proofs of concept, including using GenAI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) as part of your day-to-day development workflow

Build and maintain highly accessible, high-performing components on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), partnering with design teams to translate specs into production front-end code

Explore GenAI-powered product features (e.g., Adobe Firefly-style generative image tooling: background removal, resize, reframe, crop) alongside your core front-end work

Make sound technical calls even when there's no clear answer, and defend them to clients and teammates

Here's What You'll Need:

5+ years of experience with semantic HTML5, CSS preprocessors (LESS & Sass), and modern UI frameworks

5+ years of experience in JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue), consumption of RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and modern build/test tooling (Vite/Webpack, Jest/Vitest, Playwright/Cypress)

5+ years of experience with Responsive Design and multi-platform/multi-browser compatibility across current evergreen browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)

Hands-on experience building components on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or an equivalent enterprise CMS/DXP

Hands-on experience using GenAI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate development, with sound judgment on when to trust vs. verify AI-generated code

Proven experience working independently as the senior or lead developer on a project, coaching and guiding other engineers

Experience conducting code reviews and enforcing SDLC standards on complex projects

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required for this position

Bonus points if:

You have experience working at an advertising/design/consulting agency or web startup

You have experience building GenAI-powered product features on top of Adobe's stack (e.g., Firefly-style generative image APIs) or a comparable GenAI product integration

You are experienced in creating project estimates, defining scope requirements, and structuring projects

You possess strong communication and organizational skills with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, both internal and client-facing
