This position is part of our Signal & Power Solutions segment; Connection Systems business unit.

Job Summary:

The Aptiv Connection Systems team has an exciting opportunity for a MechanicalEngineerto join the North America Product Engineering Team.The successful candidate willbe a part of the Consumer Connectivity product portfolio.The Mechanical Engineer willdesign,developandvalidatethe mechanical aspects of electronic products that integratetechnologies such asUSB-PD, USB hub, HDMI, Qi wireless charging, NFC,LED lighting,and GSM.The candidate willprovide innovative solutions and work with cross-functional teams to meet customer-driven, automotive industry specifications.

Your Role:

  • Work directly with automotive OEMs and other Tier 1 suppliers to design products that meet customer functional andmechanicalrequirements

  • Develop product drawings and oversee and/or createMCAD models

  • Create change documentation for changes

  • Use MCAD programs for developing new components

  • Complete peer reviews of designs and design change activities

  • Work with supply chain management to provide cost analysis of Bill of Material (BoM) andcomponentcost tradeoffs

  • Use analytical methods to perform simulations to verify operating boundaries and conditions for Worst Case Analysis

  • Conduct detailed benchmarking, competitive and cost-tradeoff analysis for area of responsibility

  • Perform simulations, worst case circuit tolerance analysis, FMEAs, fault tree analysis and similar design disciplines

  • Perform bench level testing and prototyping

  • Complete checklists as necessary for following the product development process flow

  • Work with validation team toassistin developing proper equipment and processes for Design Validation (DV) and Product Validation (PV) of product

  • Mentor other department Mechanical Engineers in proper practices, industrystandardsand best practices

  • Ensure compliance with customer specific requirements

  • Create and conduct technical presentations to explain and sell new product designs

  • Support the cross-functional team including software engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, ECAD, MCAD,manufacturing,and SCM

  • YourRequiredBackground(i.e., Must Haves):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline;ora combination ofAssociatesdegreein a related disciplineand20+ years relevantmechanical design experience

  • 5+ years relevant mechanical design experience and candemonstrateabilities

  • Familiarity with product development processincluding:componenttesting / PPAP, functional dimensioning, geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T), dimensional stack-up including statistical applications, design failuremodeand effects analysis (DFMEA)

  • Previousexperience with using MCAD software to develop multi-componentmechanical designs

  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper design methods to meetautomotive thermal, environmental,structural, and appearancerequirements

  • Previousexperiencewithdesign for manufacturing(DFM)process

  • Previousexperience designinginjection moldedplasticcomponents

  • Previousexperience designingmachined, cast, and stampedmetal components

  • Previousexperience with tolerance stack-up analysis

  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

  • Demonstratedproficiencyusing Microsoft Office (i.e.Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Visio, etc.)

  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization

  • Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team.
