The Senior Business Systems Analyst (SBSA) plays a pivotal role in driving the strategic integration of business processes with IT solutions to enhance organizational performance. This role involves leading complex projects, performing advanced business analysis, and developing comprehensive specifications for IT systems. The SBSA works closely with senior stakeholders across various departments to ensure that IT systems align with business goals and deliver optimal value.
What you will do:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of complex business processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and automation. Lead the elicitation, documentation, and validation of business and system requirements using advanced techniques such as detailed interviews, workshops, surveys, and analysis of existing systems. Translate high-level business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications for IT solutions. Utilize advanced tools such as process flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, and business process modeling notation (BPMN) to represent and analyze processes.
  • Collaborate with IT developers, architects, and senior stakeholders to design IT solutions that meet business requirements and strategic goals. Develop comprehensive use cases, user stories, and process diagrams to guide the development and implementation of IT systems. Ensure that proposed solutions are technically feasible, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards. Participate in design reviews and provide input on potential improvements and optimizations.
  • Develop and oversee the execution of comprehensive test plans to ensure that IT solutions meet specified requirements and quality standards. Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) with business stakeholders to validate the functionality and performance of IT solutions. Identify, document, and track defects and issues, working with development teams to ensure timely resolution. Ensure that test cases comprehensively cover all functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Lead the implementation and deployment of IT solutions, including system configuration, data migration, and user training. Provide post-implementation support to ensure smooth transition and adoption of new systems and processes. Develop and maintain user documentation, training materials, and system procedures to support end-users. Offer ongoing support and troubleshooting for implemented systems and processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior business stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure their requirements are met. Facilitate communication between business users and IT teams, acting as a liaison to ensure mutual understanding and alignment. Conduct regular meetings and presentations to update stakeholders on project progress, issues, and solutions. Gather feedback from stakeholders and incorporate it into project plans and future enhancements.
  • Perform advanced gap analysis to identify discrepancies between current processes and desired outcomes. Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and create business cases to evaluate potential solutions and their impacts on business operations. Analyze and interpret complex data to support decision-making and identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. Create business cases and justification documents for proposed projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of IT systems and processes, identifying areas for continuous improvement. Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions. Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance business operations and IT service delivery. Identify and implement best practices for business analysis and systems improvement to drive operational efficiency.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior business and IT management, detailing project status, progress, and key metrics. Maintain accurate documentation of requirements, design specifications, test plans, and training materials. Develop and maintain a repository of business processes, requirements, and IT documentation to support ongoing projects and future initiatives.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field required or
  • 6-8 years of additional relevant experience required
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Experience
  • 7+ years Experience as a Business Systems Analyst or in a similar role, with a proven track record of delivering IT solutions that meet business needs required
  • 4+ years Extensive experience in analyzing and documenting complex business processes, requirements, and system specifications required
  • 5+ years Experience with software development lifecycles, project management methodologies, and testing/QA processes required
  • 5+ years Proven experience in conducting feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and creating business cases. required
Licenses and Certifications
  • CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or CCBA (Certification of Competency in Business Analysis) Preferred
  • Additional certifications in relevant areas (e.g., PMP, Agile) Preferred
  • Certifications in data analysis, process improvement (e.g., Lean Six Sigma), or related fields Preferred
