ENGEL Machinery North America has a job opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. POSITION INFORMATION

Job Summary:

Create mechanical designs, 2D drawings and 3D models of automation cells, retrofits and reconfigurations. Construct bill of materials for robots and auxiliary equipment. Provide general mechanical engineering support for field work. Act as technical lead for mechanical engineering team, and oversee ME department standards, quality of design and deliverables.

Essential ME Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 3D modeling of custom automation equipment to include but not limited to robotic end of arm tools, assorted peripheral / auxiliary material handling equipment, etc

  • Modify and adapt existing library components for use on similar or new project applications

  • Create mechanical designs according to industry safety standards

  • Develop 2D drawings for:

  • Automated production cells

  • Auxiliary equipment

  • Individual parts (manufacturing drawings)

  • Material processing in SAP software

  • Prepare complete bill of materials for production orders

  • Add new materials for custom parts as necessary

  • Maintain and update the bill of material for delivered equipment as necessary

  • Submit items and equipment for procurement

  • Generate specifications to ensure ENGEL standards

  • Participate in project kick-off meetings, design review meetings, factory acceptance tests, training, and other relevant meetings as necessary

  • Create documentation included but not limited to spare parts lists, layouts, wear items, etc.

  • Provide technical support to other team members throughout the company as necessary

  • Assist with the project quoting efforts by providing mechanical engineering labor and material estimates as necessary

  • Perform other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor

  • Assists internal Production Assembly and Integration personnel with the pre-assembly of new builds and retrofits, prior to shipping.

  • Support cross functional team with appropriate documentation and clarification as required to facilitate proper project workflow.

Essential Leadership Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and role model best practices and use of all standards and checkpoints

  • Creating/maintaining ME specific standards

  • Create peer reviews and quality check methods, help arrange use

  • Guide ME team on cost effective design for manufacturing practices

  • Assist team to arrange peer reviews and quality checks

  • With Eng. Mgr:

  • ID need for training modules and assist with creating/facilitating training modules

  • Mentor team on accurate labor hour estimation and time management skills

  • Collaborate on training, standards, and process topics

Essential Communication to Engineering Manager:

  • Training requests

  • Escalating quality, capacity and personnel concerns proactively

  • Feedback for annual performance reviews for ME team
