Job: Fire Protection Engineering Intern Fire Protection group

Location: Lenexa KS

GBA Companies is welcoming Engineering students to join us this upcoming summer for an internship in our Fire Protection group.

Summary:

Interns at GBA Companies gain hands-on experience in a collaborative work environment and have an opportunity to work side by side with industry experts. We treat each intern as an individual and have the unique ability to offer rotational opportunities for students who are still identifying their path.


What Youll Do

As a Fire Protection Engineering Intern, youll:

  • Assist with preparing designs, analyses, calculations, and models related to fire protection systems, life safety systems, and passive fire protection building features.
  • Assist with conducting project site visits to observe construction and witness system testing.
  • Follow quality control processes and design standards.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplined design teams.
  • Engage in an active learning environment with mentorship from experienced engineers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:
  • Pursuing BS or MS in Architectural Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or another related engineering degree from accredited program.
  • 3.0 GPA or higher strongly preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office software is preferred
  • Experience with architectural/architectural engineering projects or internships is preferred.
  • Finished at least two years of school
  • Involved in campus, community, and other volunteer activities and/ or organization
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk around the office for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
