Summary / Job Objective:  

We are seeking an experienced, customer-focused, senior level individual to join our advanced planning team. The Vice President, Advanced Planning will play a key active role as a subject matter expert to financial advisors and internal partners and provide education on advanced planning topics, case design support for their clients, and marketing content to generate sales opportunities. 

Essential Job Functions:  

Provide client-specific expertise and support in the areas of trust and estate planning, business succession planning, buy-sell agreements, planned charitable giving, executive compensation, creditor protection solutions and advanced tax saving concepts.  Present and educate advisors and clients on various Advanced Planning concepts.

Primary Responsibilities: 

●        Keep up to date on tax and legal issues related to estate and business planning topics, understand their implications for clients, and be able to effectively communicate them to financial advisors. 

●        Respond to inquiries from financial advisors and internal stakeholders on various financial, tax, and legal questions, and provide exceptional customer service. 

●        Recognize sales opportunities based on client fact patterns provided by financial advisors and maximize their success rates. 

●        Review legal documents, i.e. trust and estate planning documents, buy-sell agreements, and executive compensation arrangements. Provide advisors with plain English summaries to advance the sales process.

●        Educate financial advisors and internal stakeholders through written advanced planning updates and online webinars. 

●        Represent Simplicity at industry events and internal firm level conferences as a participating member, presenter or contributor as needed.

●         Assist in the integration of new Simplicity partner firms and affiliated firms, introducing them to our advanced planning services, and playing a key relationship role in maximizing their sales opportunities. 

●        Build and maintain strong professional, customer-focused relationships with advisors by providing advanced planning support above their expectations. 

●        Assist the Advanced Planning team in their development of marketing material, completing writing projects, reviewing existing material for technical accuracy, and recommending new projects based on advisor demand and sales opportunities. Ensure content remains up-to-date and compliant.

Qualifications: 

●        10+ years of experience in advanced planning for high-net-worth and business owner clients

●        Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, and work-related experience strongly preferred

●        Industry designations – CLU, ChFC, and/or CFP

●        J.D. preferred

●        Expert comprehension of income and estate taxation, trust and estate planning, business succession, executive compensation, creditor protection solutions, retirement planning, and planned charitable giving

●        Excellent knowledge of financial / insurance products including life insurance, annuities, long-term care and disability

Core Competencies:

●        Understanding of risks associated with the financial / insurance industry and how to mitigate exposure to such risk. 

●        Ability to provide quality customer service and exceed advisor expectations in a multi-project environment. 

●        Advanced knowledge and research capabilities related to tax and legal topics, ability to take complex strategies and communicate them in an easy to understand manner.  

●        Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment.

●        Experience working directly with clients is preferred. 

●        Strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint abilities. 

●        Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

●        Proficiency in Google Suite and Salesforce.

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation (based on experience)

●        Base salary: $175,000 - $200,000

●        This is an Exempt position

●        Annual performance bonus target:  20%
