We are an investment services company and mutual fund manager with roots in rural America, originally formed 35 years ago to invest on behalf of community electric cooperatives and their employees. Across market cycles, our firm has grown in size and scope, gaining recognition through our array of mutual funds, but we have never lost sight of who we serve or the way in which we serve them. This history has shaped our approach to investing and distinguishes us from other firms.

The Senior Financial Advisor is responsible for retaining Homestead Funds shareholders and attracting new shareholders through virtual and in-person presentations. Conducts over-the-phone and in-person personalized portfolio reviews and recommends customized asset allocation strategies based on each shareholder's financial needs. The role also supports the reputation of Homestead Funds client service in the cooperative community.

This is a hybrid/remote position. Salary Range: $126,000 - $157,000 with an incentive opportunity. Final compensation determined by individual qualifications, experience and internal equity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides superior client service and executes comprehensive relationship management strategy for retaining Homestead Funds' clients.

  • Maintains expert knowledge of Homestead Funds products and services, staying current on IRS tax guidelines.

  • Communicates by phone with shareholders and potential shareholders, utilizing a Client Relationship Management (CRM) system to track contact and follow-up points, measure retention success, and ensure high level of client service and high retention rates.

  • Conducts over-the-phone and in-person portfolio reviews and recommends specific, customized asset allocation strategies.

  • Proactively informs clients of new products and services and educates clients on various investing concepts, provides advanced notification of and assistance with client actions.

  • Collaborates with transfer agent, team members and management to ensure service excellence and consistent messaging and communications.

  • Presents Homestead Funds information on financial wellness, funds, account types, and services at events where appropriate.

  • Complies with the policies and procedures of Homestead Advisers Corporation and Homestead Funds, Inc., which include but are not limited to the rules and regulations under the Securities Act of 1933, Securities Exchange Act of 1934, Investment Company Act of 1940 and USA Patriot Act of 2001. Fulfills all annual regulatory and firm education requirements and FINRA continuing education as required.

Qualifications

Formal Education Required:

Bachelor's degree in business or related field.

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • Six or more years of mutual fund/investment industry experience is required.

  • Four or more years direct experience in a senior client facing role.

  • Marketing or business development experience preferred but not required.

Certifications:

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation preferred

  • FINRA Series 6 (Investment Company Registered Representative)

  • FINRA Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent)

  • FINRA Series 65 (Investment Advisor)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of securities, the mutual fund industry, 401(k) pension plans, defined benefit plans, financial planning and the investments community.

  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple projects at various stages of development using effective organization skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to quickly learn and retain information.

  • Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively within a team and provide timely follow-up when needed.

  • Ability to listen and interpret the customer's needs, de-escalate difficult customer calls, while at the same time researching the issue and applying broad business and technical knowledge to meet the customer's satisfaction.

  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations and training workshops on complex information in a relatable manner.

  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse membership, employees and/or vendors in a clear and precise manner.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) in the day-to-day essential duties of the job.

  • Ability to travel (10%).

  • Ability to report to the office when required.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.

  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
