Job description

Senior Financial Advisor

Responsible for retaining current Homestead Funds shareholders and attracting new shareholders through virtual and in‑person presentations. Conduct over‑the‑phone and in‑person personalized portfolio reviews and recommend customized asset allocation strategies based on each shareholder’s financial needs. Supports the reputation of Homestead Funds client service in the cooperative community. This is a hybrid/remote position.

Compensation
  • Salary: $126,000 – $157,000 plus incentive opportunity.
  • Location: Hybrid/remote with occasional travel (10%).
Responsibilities
  • Provide superior client service and execute comprehensive relationship management strategy for retaining Homestead Funds clients.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Homestead Funds products and services and stay current on IRS tax guidelines.
  • Communicate with shareholders and potential shareholders by phone using a CRM system to track contact, follow‑up points, measure retention success, and ensure high levels of client service and retention.
  • Conduct portfolio reviews and recommend specific, customized asset allocation strategies.
  • Proactively inform clients of new products and services and educate clients on investing concepts, providing early notification and assistance with client actions.
  • Collaborate with transfer agent, team members, and management to ensure service excellence and consistent messaging and communications.
  • Present Homestead Funds information at events as required.
  • Comply with Homestead Advisers and Homestead Funds policies and applicable securities regulations.
  • Fulfill all regulatory and firm education requirements and FINRA continuing education as required.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Experience: Six or more years of mutual fund or investment industry experience; four or more years in a senior client‑facing role.
  • Certifications: CFP designation preferred; FINRA Series 6, 63, and/or 65.
  • Knowledge of securities, the mutual fund industry, 401(k) plans, defined benefit plans, and financial planning concepts.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple projects.
  • Ability to learn quickly and retain information.
  • Independent work capability, collaborative teamwork, and timely follow‑up.
  • Active listening and de‑escalation of difficult customer calls.
  • Presentation and training workshop delivery skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication with diverse membership, employees, and vendors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% and report to office as required.
Physical Requirements
  • Close visual acuity required for reading, viewing a computer terminal, and transcribing.
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds occasionally, or up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Job considered light work for sedentary tasks.
