Job description

SENIOR LECTURER AND DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION, Institute for Medical Engineering & Science (IMES)-Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology (HST), will lead HST’s MIT-based educational programs; responsibilities include overseeing academic affairs, educational policy, and curriculum development; advising and mentoring HST Ph.D. students; advancing strategic educational initiatives in partnership with HST co-directors; shaping the future of the HST student experience; will develop an educational portfolio aligned with candidate expertise and program needs; coordinate training programs and grants; oversee academic budgets; serve as the IMES/HST UROP coordinator; and support the continued excellence and growth of HST’s educational mission.

Qualifications
  • MD or PhD in a related field.
  • Experience in curriculum design, implementation, and assessment.
  • At least five years of administrative experience, preferably in academia.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience and commitment to educational innovation.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, relationship‑building, organizational, and project management skills, including financial oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Discretion in handling confidential matters.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, and learning new systems (e.g., Canvas, FileMaker, financial platforms).
  • Flexibility to support key programmatic and community events through occasional evening and weekend work (approximately four to six times per year).
  • PREFERRED: Experience in higher education and/or collaborative, cross‑institutional academic environments.
