LaBella Associates is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm with more than 2,200 professionals across over 30 offices in 13 states as well as Europe. We are looking to expand in our Upstate New York offices by adding a Senior Environmental Engineer to focus on brownfield projects. We are seeking a NY-licensed engineer who is inspired by complex projects, technical leadership, and the opportunity to mentor and coach junior staff.

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Environmental Engineer (PE) to lead environmental investigation and remediation projects and provide technical expertise. The ideal candidate is technically strong, passionate about mentorship, and excited by opportunities to work on impactful brownfield remediation and redevelopment projects.

Duties:

Technical Leadership

  • Manage and execute Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), NYSDEC Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) and USEPA Brownfield projects, including Site Characterizations, Remedial Investigations, Alternatives Analyses, and Remedial Design.
  • Develop and optimize engineering controls, automation, and system performance monitoring programs for new and existing remedial systems.
  • Lead design and feasibility evaluations for remedial technologies such as:
    • Excavation/off-site disposal
    • In-situ chemical oxidation/reduction
    • Thermal remediation
    • Sub-slab depressurization systems
    • PFAS treatment systems
  • Oversee field programs including soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and surface water sampling.
  • Analyze and present field and laboratory data; prepare and review technical reports.
  • Support litigation and expert witness assignments as needed.
  • Experience with Title V air permits, state facility permits and air registrations is not required but preferred.

Team Development

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, geologists, and environmental scientists.
  • Promote technical excellence, collaboration, and professional growth within the team.

Client Service & Business Development

  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and project budgets.
  • Maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies.
  • Represent LaBella professionally in alignment with our core values.

Build and maintain strong client relationships across the private and public sectors.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemical, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline.
  • New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 20+ years of experience managing environmental investigation and remediation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with BCP, Phase II ESAs, and remedial design.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid NYS driver's license with a clean driving record.
