Description

SAIC is looking for a Senior Energy Storage Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Engineer (Systems or Electrical) will provide engineering design, development, and systems integration support for DoW Power & Energy storage shipboard system acquisition programs.  Develop program documentation for systems development, testing, implementation, and life cycle management for existing and new power and energy systems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Characterizing large-scale Li-ion battery performance criteria, developing failure modes, test planning, fire mitigation and suppression concepts, prototyping battery-agnostic containment solutions, and evaluating other alternative energy storage system viability.
    • Engineering support and requirements development for electrical, mechanical, and system controls and mitigation options for the system and the interfaces with the integrated shipboard environment
    • Assist with engineering investigations of power and energy systems, energy storage enclosures and support processes, applying failure and material analysis methods, including non-destructive and destructive analysis for lithium-ion and silver-zinc chemistry energy storage systems, enclosures and mitigation systems
    • Investigate and review commercially developed studies, analysis, evaluations, and assessments provided to the Government
    • Support of DoW acquisition and acquisition management elements

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and five or more years of experience
    • Experience with support of DoW systems design, development, testing, and performance evaluation processes
    • Interim secret clearance with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process
    • US Citizenship required

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with Directed Energy
  • Experience with power supply systems, energy storage systems, batteries, and related systems
  • Experience with Cameo
