GrapheneDx is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer who will apply their expertise to support the development of their first generation product and own all electronics-based activities within the business.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate for this role will act as technical lead for all internal electronics engineering development work in all key R&D Product development activities, to bring products to market that meets startup product development strategy and deliver impactful diagnostic products globally. The candidate will work collaboratively with the Program, R&D, Fabrication and Quality teams to lead and support all electronics product design and development activities within the company and with company partners.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development engineering activities on current and future generation electronics subsystems and their integration into startup products:
    • Responsible for concepting, creating and testing prototypes for proof of concept to take that learning back into design iterations
    • Responsible for developing electrical sensing platforms to support Assay development in accelerating electrical-based biosensor development
    • Provide data analysis on product designs and throughout testing to iteratively improve product performance to meet product requirements
    • Act as technical decision maker for the electronics subsystem
  • Own and contribute to product development documentation within our Quality Management System:
    • Manage electronics product requirements and specifications in collaboration with the Engineering and Quality teams
    • Generate design files and detailed specifications that are transferred to manufacture
    • Provide technical expertise in development of risk management documents including dFMEA, pFMEA, and Risk Analyses, and create and implement mitigation plans based on risk analysis outputs
    • Implement documented testing to meet product Verification and Validation (V&V) requirements
  • In collaboration with manufacturing and design partners:
    • Assess the design for manufacturability and implement solutions to ensure product design meets short term manufacturability requirements and long-term scale needs
    • Support in translating new product requirements to manufacturing requirements
  • Contribute to cross-functional meetings and technical reviews as the Electronics Subject Matter Expect
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff as applicable
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities to further enhance operational efficiency
  • Manage relationships with critical suppliers, in partnership with Quality and Supply chain groups
  • Contribute to startup product development roadmap and technology portfolio

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics engineering with 7+ years’ applicable industry experience, or a PhD with 5+ years of applicable industry experience
  • Strong skills in electronics product development including:
    • Proficiency with PCB visualization and layout tools e.g. Altium
    • Familiarity with low and high volume manufacturing techniques and suppliers
    • Development of low cost, single use disposable PCBAs
    • Development of electrical sensing platforms
    • Embedded Software development e.g. C
  • Familiarity working in the Medical Device, In-Vitro Diagnostics or Consumer Health sectors, and compliance with ISO13485/ISO9001
  • Working under design control for regulated products e.g, medical devices, including requirements management, risk management, and V&V 
  • Experience in low & high-volume manufacturing
  • Strong data processing and visualization skills (Python, MATLAB, R, or equivalent)
  • Strong background in signal processing, developing mathematical frameworks and algorithms to classify diagnostic results from complex signals
  • Strong cross-functional problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify challenges and propose alternative approaches
  • Ability to coordinate effectively across multiple functional areas
  • Highly motivated and adaptable, with the flexibility to thrive in a dynamic and interdependent environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SolidWorks 3D CAD design experience
  • Experience developing electrochemical and electrical-based biosensors
  • Experience in designing for high-volume manufacture
  • Database management for rapid data collection and processing (e.g. MongoDB)
