Position Overview 

The Sr. Member of Technical Staff is responsible for electrical design of next generation high reliability undersea products for SubCom.  The role completes circuit design which include analog and digital circuits including microcontrollers and FPGAs as well as electro-optic components like photo diodes and lasers.  This role will work a team of electrical, mechanical, optical and reliability engineers to design high reliability fault tolerant circuit to operate in the undersea environment.  This role will also be responsible for the development and implementation of verification and qualifications plans for these designs.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for writing test plans for factory test and to support the introduction of designs into manufacture. The position will report to the Director- Lightwave technology.

Responsibilities 

  • Conducts analog and digital circuit design and simulation.
  • Plan and execute the qualification testing for new products
  • Contribute to hands-on experimental work on prototype components, circuits and assemblies
  • Initiate and develop relationships with internal partners and external suppliers.
  • Consistently ensures that business is always conducted with integrity and that behavior aligns with SubCom policies, procedures, and core values.

Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Engineering/Physics or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience required.
  • Electrical or Mechanical engineering, data analysis, computer programming experience required.
  • Strong experimental and laboratory skills.
  • Ability to solder, complete electronic circuit assembly and wiring skills
  • A self-starter with the demonstrated ability to take initiative, who can proactively identify issues/opportunities and recommend actions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Articulates thoughts and ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively
  • Experience working with single mode optical fiber, fiber optic components and optical measurement techniques.
  • Strong results orientation with a proven track record of flawless execution and strong attention to detail
