Job description

Waldron Engineering and Construction, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with 7-15 years’ experience and a Professional Engineering License to join its consulting engineering team in the power and energy industry. This position is for a highly motivated individual who is interested in all aspects of industrial power generation & distribution, including generators, battery energy storage and photovoltaic power systems. The position includes working in the office during design and in the field during construction support and commissioning.

The successful candidate in this position will design Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems for industrial power generation & distribution projects including Microgrids for campus and/or district energy systems, and municipal scale power generation facilities. In this role, the successful candidate will also provide engineering support for utility interconnections and generator protection schemes. Typical tasks will include short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies, development of one and three line diagrams, protection schemes and reviewing designs for compliance with National Electric Code as well as other applicable standards. Other tasks also include working with vendors to write equipment purchase specifications.

The successful candidate in this position will be expected to mentor and manage younger staff engineers.

Waldron is a multi-discipline engineering and construction management firm with Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, and Controls engineering and design personnel. The position will involve close coordination with other disciplines, in a team environment with a focus on delivering successful engineering and consulting projects to our clients.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop Design Documents (One Lines, Protection Onelines, Cable/Wire Schedules, Interconnect Diagrams, equipment specifications, etc.)

  • Write Specifications for purchase of electrical equipment.

  • Review electrical equipment submittals and ensure proper coordination with overall design. Ensure equipment meets design intent of the project.

  • Perform calculations and analysis of electrical systems using ETAP and/or SKM.

  • Travel to client sites during construction.

  • Provide on-site commissioning support.

  • Interface with clients and contractors.

  • Manage and develop younger engineers.

  • 10-20% travel is required.

Education:

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering

Experience:

7-15 years in Industrial Power Engineering or Construction

PE License

Good Communication and Time Management Skills
